About 1st Step Behavioral Health
1st Step Behavioral Health is located in Pompano Beach, South Florida, and provides a full continuum of substance abuse treatment services for adults struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Our facility offers inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), outpatient treatment (OP), intensive outpatient treatment (IOP), as well as on-site detox. Additionally, we offer sober living facilities for continued support.
Treatment & Assessment
According to our website, individuals in need of medical assistance begin their treatment in our detox unit, where medication is often used to manage withdrawal symptoms. The average length of stay in the detox unit is between seven to 14 days. Once stabilized, clients typically transition to inpatient treatment.
At 1st Step Behavioral Health, each client’s treatment plan is highly individualized and based on a comprehensive nursing assessment and evaluation, medical history, physical assessment, and initial psychiatric evaluation. Our treatment program incorporates evidence-based and 12-Step methods and includes a combination of individual therapy, group therapy, gender-specific group therapy, family counseling, addiction education, life skills development, holistic therapy, and relapse prevention.
The Partial Hospitalization Program offers similar treatment and support but at a lower intensity level. Additional therapy options may include ego-modifying therapy, experiential therapy, rational emotive therapy, role-playing, and therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Outpatient treatment and intensive outpatient treatment provide step-down levels of care, and we often utilize sober living facilities in conjunction with partial hospitalization or outpatient treatment.
Staff Credentials
Our treatment team at 1st Step Behavioral Health includes registered nurses and nurse practitioners, licensed professional counselors (LPC), certified alcohol and drug counselors (CADC), licensed mental health counselors (LMHC), and licensed social workers (LSW). We maintain a 1:1 staff-to-client ratio, and we are proud to be one of the 192 (26.8 percent) of Florida facilities that are Joint Commission Accredited.
Accommodations & Amenities
At 1st Step Behavioral Health, we provide sober living facilities to all clients, including those enrolled in outpatient programs. Our clients reside in fully-furnished apartment-style accommodations that feature semi-private bedrooms, small kitchens, and common areas. Our amenities include an on-site swimming pool, outdoor seating areas, and gym access.
For patients participating in inpatient treatment, we offer gym access five nights a week and the option of chiropractic and massage therapy. Transportation is available for 12-step meetings outside the facility, supervised grocery shopping, and weekend fellowship activities.
