ABOUT SHADOW MOUNTAIN RECOVERY – COLORADO SPRINGS

Located in the high desert of the southern Rocky Mountains, Shadow Mountain Recovery in Colorado Springs provides a full continuum of treatment programs for adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health disorders. One of six facilities operated by the treatment provider, including another in Taos, the Colorado Springs location offers residential treatment, partial hospitalization (day treatment), an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and therapeutic sober living homes. A detox until is located on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The residential treatment program lasts 30 days. Activities include group, individual, and family counseling, along with medical stabilization, treatment for co-occurring disorders, physical activity, and regular recreational outings. If necessary, clients may participate in extended care, which includes a longer duration of treatment coupled with increased autonomy. Extended care is highly individualized and each client stays for varying lengths of time depending on need.

Clients who take advantage of extended care tend to move into the day treatment program next, which includes most of the same treatment activities alongside cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), didactic education, and experiential therapy among others. Treatment occurs five days per week, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Clients return home (or to sober living) in the evenings and on weekends. This level of treatment typically lasts 30 to 90 days.

The IOP offers nine hours of individual and group treatment each week. It also includes recovery workshops and relapse prevention education. The program lasts 60 to 90 days. Shadow Mountain’s sober living homes are gender-specific and located near the treatment facility. They offer consistent staffing and structure while clients attend either the day program or the IOP.
