The Salvation Army – Addiction Treatment Services

ABOUT THE SALVATION ARMY – ADDICTION TREATMENT SERVICES

Located in a residential neighborhood of Honolulu, The Salvation Army of the Hawaiian and Pacific Islands offers a variety of health and human services for community members in need. Addiction Treatment Services, one of those programs, focuses on providing treatment and support for people who are struggling with substance abuse. While separate programs treat parenting mothers and provide gender-specific rehab for men, Addiction Treatment Services works with all people, regardless of sex, race, age, or creed. Programming includes detox, outpatient treatment, and residential care.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

For those who require treatment for withdrawal symptoms, the center provides detoxification services. The program uses a “social” model where facilitators provide support and a safe environment, but no medication is administered. The detox process typically lasts between four and seven days.

According to the center’s website, all programming provides counseling services, as well as any basic human necessities required for “physical rehabilitation and spiritual regeneration.” The center’s outpatient offering is best suited to the “still-functioning” individual. Programming is highly structured, and sessions are offered during the day and in the evening.

The organization’s residential program provides a more individualized approach to treatment, and the duration of care varies according to each client’s needs.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings, however, two alumni polled to date on the staff’s level of training and experience gave it conflicting ratings of two and four out of five stars.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Best-rehabs.com has received two reviews from alumni of Salvation Army Honolulu Addiction Treatment Services to date. Both alumni agreed on perfect five-star ratings for the facility’s cleanliness and affordability, and noted they would definitely recommend treatment here to others. They also agreed that holistic offerings were lacking, giving ratings of one and two out of five stars.

To offset the excellent reviews given by Best-rehabs.com users, three reviewers who rated the facility on Google provided an average of only 2.3 out of fives stars.[1] The main complaint from a reviewer addressed the center’s fee structure, not the program’s treatment. “They receive millions in donations and hours upon hours of volunteer work and yet they charge for their treatment program?!” the anonymous user wrote.

WHAT STAFF SAY

Best-rehabs.com has received only one review from a staff member at the time of this writing. While the staffer rated the program four out of five stars for its counseling options and facility cleanliness, they also gave only two stars for affordability, accommodations, and treatment of co-occurring disorders. Although the staffer noted the program was “well structured,” they also felt it needed to be longer.

FINANCING

There is currently no information provided on the facility’s website regarding its costs, however, Salvation Army is a charitable organization that typically provides its services on a low or no-cost basis.
