ABOUT VALLEY BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

Valley Behavioral Health, located in Salt Lake City, Utah, is a full-service facility treating the spectrum of substance abuse issues and co-occurring mental health disorders. The center, which offers both outpatient and residential programs, treats both adults and children.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Before entering Valley Behavioral Health, case managers sit down with clients and recommend course of treatment based on clinical need. Its needs-specific programs include intensive dual-diagnosis treatment, addiction intervention, gender-specific programs, services for patients 55 years and older, trauma-based treatment, and services for those with criminal records.

Valley Health’s outpatient program offers treatments such as diagnostic evaluation, individual, family and group therapy and counseling, medication evaluation and management, skills training, case management, peer services and crisis intervention.

Its residential program, one of 70 in the state of Utah (29 percent), offers treatment for injury, homelessness, and seven facilities for those with co-occurring mental health disorders. It also has a specialized treatment program for pregnant woman struggling with substance use and addiction recovery.

Valley also offers offers relapse prevention services to identify and prevent high-risk situations.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Valley’s treatment staff consists of medical staff, social workers, therapists, case managers, family advocates and peer specialists.

Each of the seven residential facilities offer upwards of 50 beds. Every facility under the Valley umbrella is different.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

To date, a single alum offered a review to Best-rehabs.com. The alum gave a lukewarm review of three stars, rating staff, accommodations, and affordability high, but holistic care and counseling negatively. The alum wrote, “Coordination of treayment and record problems. Compassionate. Undetstands underlying causes for drug use,” but added, “Medical records were inaccurate and I was unable to correct.”

On Google, 27 reviewers left a lukewarm rating of 2.8 stars.[1] Few left commentary, but one wrote that the facility was “really only for people with severe illness that have landed them into legal trouble.” Another more positive reviewer wrote, “I currently go to Valley Behavior Health in the forensic unit(3rd floor) for treatment and it has been meeting my needs in many ways ever since I’ve became a client.”

FINANCING

Valley accepts most major forms of insurance and also takes Medicare and Medicaid. It is among the 34 percent of Utah facilities to accept Medicare and among the 48 percent of Utah facilities to accept Medicaid.
