ABOUT CLUB RECOVERY

Serving Edina, Minn., and the surrounding communities since 1998, Club Recovery provides rehabilitation services for individuals who are struggling with alcohol, drug, and gambling addictions. All treatment is offered on an outpatient basis and may be used to supplement 12-step programming. Sessions are offered on weekday mornings, afternoons, and evenings, as well as on Saturdays. Detox is not provided on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

All Club Recovery clients first undergo a chemical dependency (CD) evaluation, which includes a background review and a one-on-one interview with a licensed drug and alcohol counselor. Based on assessment findings, counselors recommend the most appropriate course of treatment.

Depending on their needs, clients may enroll in the center’s eight-week or three-month intensive outpatient (IOP) program. Regardless of the duration of the program, participants receive six hours of treatment each week. Most of this time is spent in group counseling, which uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) as its primary treatment modality. Clients may be asked to keep a journal, complete assignments, or participate in cognitive rehearsal exercises. Other groups cover topics including spirituality, social interactions, work, and money. Both coed and gender-specific treatment tracks are offered, and clients also receive individual therapy and participate in family counseling.

Continuing care is available to clients who complete IOP or substance abuse treatment at another facility. This program uses peer-to-peer engagement to support long-term recovery. Most clients attend two or three sessions a week.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Club Recovery’s treatment team is led by a PhD-level psychologist and includes licensed professional counselors and licensed alcohol and drug counselors.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

When asked how likely they were to recommend the facility to others, the one alum polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided a rating of five out of five stars. This survey respondent also gave the center’s treatment effectiveness five stars and submitted four-star ratings for the program’s counseling options and the staff’s level of training and experience. “If you have a drug/alcohol or gambling problem THIS is the place to be…they’ll make you feel like Family. It worked for me!” they told Best-rehabs.com.

Overall ratings from secondary sites were also above average. On CiteHealth, the facility received an overall rating of 3.29 out of five stars, based on feedback from seven users.[1] Multiple reviewers noted that they were treated with respect and that the program never felt forced. “They treat you like an individual and not a criminal. They don’t pretend that they are responsible for running your life, like a lot of treatment centers do,” one anonymous reviewer wrote in a representative review. Another alum characterized Club Recovery as “a good alternative approach to chemical health treatment.” One CiteHealth reviewer was disappointed by what they perceived as a lack of relapse prevention programming. This alum also felt that the center was “not the best organized place sometimes.”

The five Google users who submitted reviews provided an overall rating of 3.8 out of five stars.[2] Multiple reviewers praised the “excellent” counselors and appreciated the center’s alternative approach to substance abuse treatment. “They are respectful of your ability to make choices and don’t shame or label you and are not a 12 step program but respect it if thats a part of your recovery,” Steve wrote in a representative review. Kaleb, the only Google reviewer to submit a one-star rating, took issue with the cost of treatment.

FINANCING

According to its website, Club Recovery works with Minnesota Health Care Programs and is in-network with a number of insurance providers, including Aetna, Cigna, and Blue Cross Blue Shield. The center also offers self-pay options and works with clients who have out-of-network benefits. Some financial assistance is available to those who qualify.
