ABOUT WEST CENTRAL HUMAN SERVICE CENTER

The facility serves a ten-county area surrounding Bismarck, and medical detox services are available on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

WCHSC’s substance abuse treatment begins with an evaluation to properly place prospective clients into the appropriate treatment program. Those in need of a supportive living arrangements or an ongoing therapeutic environment will benefit from residential services.

Those in need of more acute care may receive medical detox and medically-supervised residential treatment. There are eight non-hospital facilities in North Dakota that offer residential detox. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) may be utilized to minimize withdrawal symptoms, while medication management services may be utilized to stabilize dually diagnosed clients.

Primary treatment services are available on two different levels: low intensity outpatient and day treatment. The low intensity outpatient track consists of two sessions per week for up to 16 weeks, whereas day treatment ranges from five to eight hours per day, four to five days per week, and typically lasts between three and five weeks. Both programs include individual, group and family counseling, as well as case management and vocational rehabilitation services.

If necessary, domestic violence and sexual abuse treatment programs may be incorporated into core programming. Relapse prevention and aftercare services are available after a client successfully completes a treatment program.
