West Texas VA Health Care System – Substance Abuse Treatment Program, located in Big Spring, Texas, provides outpatient and aftercare treatment to United States Veterans struggling with alcohol or substance abuse. The program is facilitated as a Mental Health Service through the facility. There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its treatment staff. However, one alum polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing wrote that the facility has doctors, a psychologist, and social workers all on staff.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

At the time of this writing, there has been one alum polled by Best-rehabs.com. The respondent, D.G.L., had a very positive experience at the facility and gave an overall score of five out of five. D.G.L., who is between 40-59 years old, entered rehab for treatment of substance abuse based on a personal choice. The alum chose this particular facility because it is a hospital for Veterans. D.G.L. remained in treatment for 30-60 days and completed treatment successfully; he has not relapsed and has been out of treatment for more than 12 months.

D.G.L. gave the facility three out of five stars for accommodations & amenities and meals & nutrition; he gave five stars for the overall quality of individual counseling and the overall quality of group counseling. He indicated that he had a positive experience with all of the counseling staff at the facility. D.G.L. agreed that he would recommend the facility and wrote, “Any Vet suffering from addiction has the best available options with the VA.” The alum also added commentary stating, “Twelve-step programs, and plenty of groups. Doctors, psychologists, and social workers all on staff to help.”

On the facility’s Google page, there is an overall rating of 3.2 out of five stars based on 17 total reviews.[1] The reviews, however, all appeared to be regarding the Medical Center and not specifically the substance abuse treatment program.
