ABOUT FAHRMAN CENTER
Founded more than 30 years ago, the Fahrman Center is a residential rehab center for adults struggling with chemical dependency. Located in Eau Claire, Wis., the facility provides short-term inpatient care, which may be followed by transitional residential services. Detox is not provided on-site, and clients must be medically stable to participate in treatment.
The Fahrman Center is operated by Lutheran Social Services (LSS) of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, a Christian nonprofit community organization offering services such as adoption, foster care, and senior living, in addition to addiction treatment. Nonprofit organizations comprise 43.2 percent of treatment facilities in Wisconsin, according to a 2016 SAMHSA survey.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Upon admission, each client is assigned a dedicated counselor for a clinical assessment and individualized intensive treatment plan. The short-term residential program lasts approximately 21 days, while the transitional residential services may last up to 180 days, depending on clients’ individual needs.
Although the rehab is co-ed, most services occur in gender-specific groups. The evidence-based treatment includes individual and group therapy, rational emotive therapy, and 12-step participation. Treatment may also include holistic offerings such as yoga, art therapy, interactive journaling, and music therapy.
Additionally, the center offers a family program, and successful graduates of the program may participate in 12 months of continuing care.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Fahrman Center’s website notes that the professional treatment staff includes licensed and experienced counselors. LSS is one of only 25 (8.9 percent) treatment facilities in Wisconsin to be accredited by the Council on Accreditation (COA), according to a 2016 SAMHSA survey.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
The center offers 42 beds, and images on the website indicated simple, comfortable accommodations as well as a bright and airy dining room, lounge with a TV and small library, activity room with a ping pong table, walking paths, and an outdoor area with a gazebo.
