ABOUT BALBOA HORIZONS
Located in Newport Beach, Calif., Balboa Horizons offers gender-specific residential and intensive outpatient (IOP) substance abuse treatment for men and women. Medically monitored detox services are provided on-site for men, and off-site for women at a top-ranked facility nearby.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
All clients undergo a comprehensive assessment upon intake to help staff from an individualized treatment plan. Programs are gender-specific, offering men and women opportunity to freely and openly discuss topics and life issues specific to each of them. Groups cover a wide area of gender-indifferent topics just as much, like trauma, grief and loss, and co-occurring disorders.
Though treatment takes place in separate facilities, both men and women follow a curriculum that’s built around group and individual therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), 12-step meetings and education, and relapse prevention workshops. Residents also benefit from yoga, meditation, art and music, and other activities of recreation and leisure.
Each month, Balboa Horizons holds a four-day Family Program for those interested in learning more about and taking part in their loved one’s recovery. The weekend-long program offers on-site recovery meetings, education on the various effects of addiction, self-care, and more.
After completing the recommended 90 days in residential treatment, program graduates may progress seamlessly into Strive, Balboa Horizon’s IOP. Strive participants can choose from two tracks – Academic and Vocational – as many at this point resume their formal education and begin seeking out training in life skills and vocation. They’ll also meet with their therapist and case manager to address any concerns and challenges they encounter post-treatment.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team includes a board-certified psychiatrist and medical director, as well as licensed marriage and family therapists, licensed clinical social workers, therapists, certified addiction counselors, and case managers.
