ABOUT FAMILY CENTERS
Located in Stamford, Conn., Family Centers offers mental health services for children, adults and seniors, especially to those part of the at-risk population. The facility offers a wide range of services, including trauma therapy and parenting skills. All programs are offered on an outpatient basis, and presentations are available throughout the day and evening at the three Family Center locations in Stamford, Greenwich, and Darien.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment consists of individual, couples, group, and family therapy. There are specialized programs for individuals who need trauma or crisis debriefing or bereavement counseling. Behavioral health assessments are available for children and adolescents. A parent-teen mediation service to assist with communication issues.
Counselors utilize trauma focused cognitive behavior therapy for adults and children who suffered from a traumatic event. Trauma response services are available both on-site and in the community, for schools, businesses, and community organizations that may have experienced a crisis situation. Other forms of therapy include eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EDMR), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness self-compassion therapy.
In addition, the Wellness & Prevention division offers educational workshops and support groups about parenting and mental health. Family Centers also hosts the Parent Education Program (P.E.P.), which is required by the state for parents going through a divorce.
Family Centers also has an on-site preschool and a vocational education program. The center also facilitates many outreach programs in the community.

The reviewer noted that “All they offer is talk therapy and bereavement meetings.”
On Facebook, Family Centers received 4.5 out of five stars from 35 reviews to date, though the reviews are for the facility as a whole (vs. behavioral health services only).
Additionally, on Google to date, there are three negative reviews, one for two out of five stars and two for just one star.
Riley wrote that they “never return phone calls,” and another reviewer complained about being referred to a lesser-quality program by this facility.
WHAT STAFF SAY
Though Best-rehabs.com has yet to receive feedback for this facility from staff members, reviews on secondary employee review site Glassdoor had mixed opinions.
Five ratings averaged 2.9 out of five stars to date. It should be noted that ratings are for the center as a whole.
Staff felt that the experience they gained and their fellow employees made the job worth while, but many complains about “micromanagement” and “immature senior management.” Several also noted, “no growth potential, no raises.”
