ABOUT MANDALA HEALING CENTER

Previously known as the Delray Recovery Center, Mandala Healing Center is a luxurious, modern rehab in West Palm Beach, Fla. It provides medically monitored detox and residential treatment to adults struggling with chemical dependency and/or co-occurring mental health disorders. In nearby Boca Raton, Mandala Healing Center’s South Campus offers intensive outpatient treatment and transitional living services in this rehab’s step-down model.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

A free, initial assessment helps individuals determine what level of care is required. Treatment at Mandala Healing Center is evidence-based and focuses on all aspects of body, mind, and spirit. Most plans include one-on-one, group, and family therapy, as well as medication management, spiritual workshops, art therapy, and wellness activities. These include yoga, meditation, nutritional guidance, and Qigong.

The program also relies on 12-step principles. Clients are required to attend meetings both on- and off-site, as well as get sponsors and establish sober support networks. After treatment, the rehab offers a variety of aftercare groups.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The treatment team is led by a medical director, a licensed psychiatrist, and a licensed clinical social worker with a master’s degree in counseling. The facility also employs nurses and therapists.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Photos published on the facility’s website show that residents share double rooms and have access to a bright exercise studio. Community areas are modern and designed to be tranquil. The campus includes access to a serene pond nestled within its eight acres.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com on accommodations and amenities, meals and nutrition, exercise, leisure, connectivity, holistic treatment, and the staff’s support and/or level of training and experience gave glowing five-star ratings. While one reviewer was more critical of family participation and Mandala Healing Center’s faith-based treatment offerings, both alumni polled would ultimately recommend treatment at this facility to others. Additional reviewers noted the family program, describing it as “supportive” and “phenomenal.”

Just one Best-rehabs.com reviewer shared a wholly negative experience, concerning “condescending” counseling staff and intrusive measures of control.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

While feedback was mostly positive, some loved ones listed some weaknesses of the facility elsewhere online, especially regarding communication. Sandy left a three-star review on Google, where 17 user ratings to date average 3.7 out of five stars. She was not happy that “Our insurance didn’t cover one cent for us to send our son to Delray” and added that “When he was unable to find a job and became less compliant with attending meetings… he was kicked out of the program. Kicked out with 20 days left to go. They offered to drop him off at the local homeless shelter…”[1]

FINANCING

According to the facility’s website, Mandala Healing Center accepts most major insurance plans.

  • the only good thing about this place are the marketers. They have to be good to get you to go to this horrible place. Staff is super rude and unqualified. The head of techs is the worst of them all. Only one good employee. You family is better off on the street figuring out how to get sober

  • Do not hesitate to come here when in need. Staff is professional and caring. Family program is very informative and had a huge impact on family dynamics for the better. A phenomenol program!
While advertising itself as a picturesque healing oasis , in reality the counseling staff is condescending, and most of your time is spent being ushered around and shadowed by uneducated, poorly paid guards in matching shirts, assigned to perform counterproductive tasks like keeping grown males and females at three arms'length from each other and ensuring we are in our beds by opening each bedroom door once an hour EVERY HOUR at night, despite a multitude of real time cameras which provide that information without the need to disturb and deprive us of full night's rest like we were an international flight risk fugitives. Because of this, I only managed two hours of scrambled sleep a night. The in-house "treatment" was reading from the 12 step "big book" and forcing people to give examples of just how how screwed up they are . People who'd been there longer cautioned me to tell them what they wanted to hear, or they would make it very, very hard to leave (by manipulating parents , who were pocketing the cost, etc) This was followed by mandatory 12 step community meetings which , again, only championed that same concept, YOU ARE BROKEN AND YOU ALWAYS WILL BE. What A calculated yet simple way to break someone down even more, to ensure that they will forever self identify as addicts, thereby ensuring lifelong customers (what do addicts do? Relapse, rehab, repeat!) There was no positive spin on this, no healing environment. It seems that, by dehumanizing us, by treating and shepherding us around exactly like criminals (forget yoga on the beach, forget acupuncture or massage, forget peaceful environment or anything printed in that glossy brochure or on website) they were strengthening their control and ensuring lifelong customers. Relapse , rehab, repeat. No thank you! RUN! That's what I did, with $8 in my pocket and the (corect) hunch that a maintenance program was the ticket, not a prison that sets out to break down your spirit while draining the accounts (and spirits!) Of your loved ones for years.
New, nice campus. Supportive staff and very helpful, supportive family week.

  • This facility has saved my life in so many ways there are too many strength to name. My first visit to this facility was in 2009 when they first opened that also allow me to develop tools to keep me sober for almost 6 years. I was introduced to my first successful experience with a 12 step program through this treatment center. I cannot even express the gratitude I have towards this institution because my love for one of the doctors is so great. I really don't have too much to say on weaknesses I would definitely say that the only thing I see as a weakness would be that they need to expand with more beds because I feel the success rate through this program and the amount of love and care that they provide each one of their patients saves lives. It doesn't matter if its long term inpatient, outpatient, Endor halfway house they are all top of the line not too high end but enough to bring your comfort in this very vulnerable time to 100 % and also allow you to be comfortable while learning about Recovery and learning how to live successfully without the use of drugs or alcohol

  • I think this is a great rehab to learn how to live again; it really opened my eyes to a better life and helped me through the trauma I faced in adolescence. The facility has great medical care 24/7. I needed to go to the hospital and they got me there right away! They also monitor vitals and drug test atleast three times a week! The activities were great! The approach they take is very emotional and intense. However, they had a lot of people leaving at night and they had no idea. Yes the clients came back but with all the staff and cameras it made me wonder.

  • I was non-reponsive at first, but DRC created a safe environment where I soon came around and learned to TRUST again.
