ABOUT SYRACUSE BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE

Syracuse Behavioral Healthcare-Residential Services, located in Syracuse, N.Y., offers inpatient detoxification services, residential treatment, outpatient programs, and supportive community living services to individuals struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. SBH utilizes a multidisciplinary approach to address the multilayered causes of addiction.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Along with family therapy, SBH provides individual and group counseling sessions to educate individuals on addiction while focusing on behavior modification. Medication-assisted treatment and gambling addiction programs are also available.

  • After FINALLY getting a bed, and getting settled in I was informed my counselor would be off from fri-Monday. Anyone who's been their knows you can not contact family with out your counsler. That was the first to set me off. After being there for 6 hours and starting to feel W/Ds they still had no Valium for me yet men that came in after me had already received their dose. No contact with family, no Valium, and starting withdrawal had my anxiety worse than its been in months. I bailed. I never fail at anything. I failed terrible at SBH detox. All it would have taken is a dose of something to calm my mind and help me stop missing my family would have changed everything. Addicts desperately and willingly seekin help should not be made to feel like criminals once they finally get it. I would like to say I'm surprised but we all know the cards are intentionally stacked against us to cause failure and to bulk the pockets of big pharma and the government.

The counsolers lack knowledge on addiction. The medical staff is a joke the nurses know nothing about detox... favoritism. I would not recommend this place to anyone

  • Some of nurses & counselors where great. No consistant rules...were strict with some &let others do as they pleased. Took meds from patient with serious mental illness & ignored him as he became dillusional, talk to numerous people only he saw, & became violent with himself & others. Its better than nothing but if u can find anywhere else to go, definately go there. SBH is a last resort treatment option.

  • Good for short term detox oversight. Services for those who work full time and want to maintain their job do not have any options for services after work hours. In other words, they want you to attend daily during the normal work hours which is extremely detrimental for someone that can be a dependable employee and carry out the duties that they are required to do to keep their position. This facility is an excellent short term detox facility but for someone that wishes to continue ongoing outpatient treatment and continue to work full time, there are not ongoing services available to support this type of person as the program wants you to commit to coming to the program on a daily basis during day-time (work) hours.

This facility takes an approach unheard of with addicts, THEY LEAVE THE FAMILY OUT! Detox unit makes a recommendation to a 7 year Junckie after 48 hours, and only meeting him once, to do a 28 day program after family clearly wanted the addict to attend a 90 day program. Created great turbulence between family members.
