ABOUT SAMARITAN DAYTOP VILLAGE – FOX RUN RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAM

The Fox Run Residential Treatment Program, located in the charming, artsy town of Rhinebeck, N.Y., is one of 40 facilities operated by the New York City-based Samaritan Village. In October 2015, this nonprofit merged with Daytop Village, a substance abuse treatment organization founded in 1963; this facility in Rhinebeck was formerly a Daytop center called Daytop Manor. In addition to residential treatment for children and adolescents, Fox Run offers on-site detox.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The treatment process at Samaritan Daytop Village – Fox Run Residential Treatment Program begins with an initial assessment with trained admissions specialists. Assessments can be completed in person or over the phone. Admissions specialists are also available on the weekend. Clients seeking residential treatment are referred to specific facilities based on the results of the assessment.

The Fox Run Residential Treatment Program uses evidence-based practices combined with individualized services to address addiction problems. Clients work with clinical staff to develop a treatment plan using a variety of holistic treatments. Educational courses, counseling, and family management are all included in the recovery process.

Specialized programs are available for women and children, seniors, and veterans. The Samaritan Village is well-known for its work with veterans. There are programs designed for male and female veterans focusing on key gender-specific issues common to veterans returning from active duty.

Family services are an important part of the treatment process. Fox Run Residential Treatment Program offers support to family members during the recovery process. Services such as child care, educational support, and family counseling are available.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

However, Samaritan Daytop is hiring for case managers, licensed social workers, community outreach specialists, transporters, vocational training specialists, and childcare specialists. Additional staff members may include physicians, licensed nurses, and specialized coaching and counseling staff. The facility and its programs are accredited by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The five alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com to date submitted mixed reviews of Fox Run Residential Treatment Program. The alumni did not agree on the positives or negatives of the facility.

One such category was group therapy. Alum H.V.S., who claimed to be “living sober now,” gave the facility five out of five stars for its meals and nutrition, cleanliness the quality of group counseling, and frequency of sessions. R.B. agreed, and wrote that Fox Run “saved my life!” Another survey respondent, M.T.N., walked away thoroughly satisfied. “I believe I got the best care, a relaxing atmosphere and 0 tolerance for those hindering your recovery,” they wrote; however, although giving a rating of four out of five stars for group therapy, alum J.C. wrote that there are “better options.”

Some reviewers identified a lack of aftercare options, insufficient alternative therapies, and limited activities. One anonymous reviewer provided almost entirely two- out of five-star ratings in every category and referred to the facility as a “bad summer camp.”

On CiteHealth, the facility earned one out of five stars from four reviews. [1] One anonymous reviewer wrote that the staff was “incompetent” and the facilities were “old.” Another anonymous reviewer supported this by writing: “Don’t have working bathrooms let alone treatment services, worse than the jail I came from.”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Four loved ones provided feedback for Daytop Rhinebeck to date. The feedback is divided.

Two loved ones were impressed with the facility and specifically mentioned the family engagement, reporting that they attended group therapy, family dinners, and “get togethers.”

One of the loved ones provided very little feedback except for negative reviews about the facility’s treatment effectiveness. In this case, the client passed away.

WHAT STAFF SAY

On Glassdoor, Daytop Village earned an average of 2.3 out of five stars from 18 reviews. [2] There are many criticisms about the treatment of the staff and having too few staff members to complete tasks. FINANCING

Fox Run Residential Treatment Program accepts private insurance, but it will likely not cover the cost of residential treatment. Insurance often only covers medical practices such as testing and similar services. Residential services are covered by donations, third-parties, and government funding. Medicaid is also accepted, as is self-pay on a sliding fee scale.
