ABOUT SERENITY LANE – PORTLAND WEST
Serenity Lane is a private, nonprofit drug and alcohol treatment center with numerous locations throughout Oregon as well as one in Washington. There are three locations in Portland – the Portland West facility provides intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment for adults.
The nonprofit also offers medically monitored detoxification services at its inpatient hospital, which is located a little more than 100 miles south in Coburg.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
All clients receive a free initial assessment to determine whether outpatient treatment is the appropriate level of care and that detox services are not needed.
The IOP generally lasts 10 weeks and includes individual counseling, group therapy, 12-step meetings, addiction education, and regular drug testing. Treatment groups meet for 90 minutes, three times a week, at varying days and times to accommodate client’s schedules.
For those required to be in treatment due to work, legal, or other issues, Serenity Lane can provide monitoring services and report directly to each client’s employer, probation officer, etc.
A free three-hour family program takes place weekly, offering families opportunity for education, support, discussion groups, role-playing activities, and 12-step meetings. Successful program graduates can receive 18 months of aftercare recovery support, consisting mainly of weekly therapy groups.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The program manager of the facility is a certified alcohol and drug counselor with a master’s degree. In the sole Best-rehabs.com survey to date, an anonymous alum told of well-trained and “wonderful” staff.
The facility’s Coburg location, which offers 28-day inpatient treatment for those who need it, employs a team of physicians, psychiatrists, mental health counselors, and professional nurses.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The single Best-rehabs.com survey respondent to date, an anonymous alum, gave Serenity Lane four or five stars out of five for more than a dozen treatment areas evaluated. These metrics include treatment effectiveness, accommodations, and meals & nutrition, family participation, the staff’s level of training and experience, the treatment for co-occurring disorders, and cost-worthiness. The anonymous alum also gave four stars in indicating how strongly they’d recommend the program to others.
As an organization, Serenity Lane has a near-perfect average rating of 4.9 stars out of five based on 17 Facebook users, many of whom credited the program with helping them turn their lives around.[1] It is worth noting that the Facebook pages is claimed, and hence the facility has the ability to manage reviews posted there.
“If it weren’t for this establishment and the people who administrator it, my life would have gone in a dramatically different direction… And one not for the better,” wrote Kyle in a representative statement. “It changed my life in ways I never thought possible,” added another.
FINANCING
According to its website, Serenity Lane accepts most major insurance plans as well as scholarships and financial assistance for qualified clients.
