ABOUT PEAK WELLNESS CENTER

Peak Wellness Center is a counseling organization founded 50 years ago and headquartered in the Wyoming capital of Cheyenne, with further branches in Albany, Goshen, Laramie, and Platte Counties, Wyoming. Like around 62 percent of addiction treatment facilities in Wyoming, Peak Wellness Center is a private nonprofit.

As well as mental health care and specialist services for youth and families, Peak Wellness provides residential and outpatient counseling and aftercare for individuals struggling with problematic substance use, as well as social (meaning non-medical) detox. In addition to addiction to drugs and alcohol, the center treats addictions to gambling, pornography, the internet, and tobacco.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Clients requiring detox are monitored around the clock, though Peak Wellness doesn’t provide medications to ease detoxing clients’ comfort or safety. Psychiatric and medication management services are, however, available after the detox phase.

Post-detox treatment options for substance use disorder consist of a residential program, with dedicated facilities for veterans and mothers with children, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and support groups offered on an outpatient basis. Across all programs, counseling is provided in individual, group, and family settings; there’s special support and education for families; and case management and aftercare services for families are available.

Peak Wellness Center also provides support for a full range of mental health disorders, including but not limited to anxiety, ADHD, PTSD, and schizophrenia.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Peak Wellness employs a team of more than 110 clinical and medical professionals across its locations, including psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, therapists, registered nurses, and case managers. The two individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com to date on the staff’s level of training and experience gave the aspect of the facility a four- and a five-star rating.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

There is currently no information provided by the facility regarding its living arrangements and related offerings, yet the three individuals surveyed by Best-rehabs.com as of this writing gave the center four- and five-star ratings for its cleanliness, and no rating lower than three stars for its overall accommodations.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Both of the alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com to date would recommend Peak Wellness. “The counselors were friendly and very approachable,” one anonymous reviewer wrote, while the other wrote that they received counseling and medication for their depression and anger. One reviewer gave the facility five-star ratings in almost all of the evaluated treatment metrics, including the overall quality of its individual and group counseling. The other alum awarded the facility four stars for its counseling options, but just three stars for its ability to treat co-occurring disorders.

However, Peak Wellness has mostly negative feedback on secondary sites, with a 2.3-star average rating based on four reviews on Google. All three of the negative reviewers cited problems with staff, two of them with particular staff members, while the third, Dave, wrote: “These people always have an educated excuse for not do their job.” However, the positive reviewer, Lisa, wrote of another staff member that she “keeps me strong and positive~ I feel like a person around her~ not a number!”

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The single loved one polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave positive feedback. “The staff, cleanliness, modern building were nice,” they wrote, adding that they found an outpatient program for loved ones “entertaining and helpful,” though the facility was little pricey. They gave the center five stars for its counseling options and discharge practices, and four stars for its family participation.

Like some 83 percent of facilities in Wyoming, Peak Wellness also offers a sliding fee scale based on income for uninsured and underinsured clients. The two individuals polled by Best-rehabs.com to date on the center’s affordability gave its cost a three- and a four-star rating.
