ABOUT MOUNTAIN LAKES BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE – DUTTON
Founded more than 40 years ago, Mountain Lakes Behavioral Healthcare (MLBHC) offers residential and outpatient treatment for mental health disorders and problematic substance use at six mental health and addiction treatment facilities in Alabama. Residential substance use treatment is available at MLBHC’s Guntersville location. The Dutton facility, one of three centers in Jackson County, provides outpatient care for a range of mental and behavioral health disorders; elsewhere in Jackson County, there’s a facility in Woodville. Though MLBHC does provide residential care, it’s unclear whether these services are available at the Dutton location.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
MLBHC’s primary substance use treatment is a residential program for men and women offered at the facility in Guntersville (link above). Priority service for residential treatment is given to pregnant women.
Outpatient treatment, available at the Dutton facility, uses a mix of therapy, education, and, when appropriate, medication. Counseling is offered in individual, group, and family settings, and the center also provides education and support for families, case management services, and life skills training, plus evaluations (including psychiatric evaluations) and referrals. When treating children, the facility is able to help families work together with the child’s teacher, school counselor, and/or pediatrician. A (non-substance-use-specific) residential program adds, to these outpatient offerings, vocational services, training in social and communication skills, community outings, and leisure activities.
