ABOUT THE HARBOR
Located on the campus of Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Ala., The Harbor is an outpatient center for adults struggling with addiction and/or mental health disorders. In addition to its intensive outpatient (IOP) programs, The Harbor offers outpatient counseling for individuals and couples.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
The treatment process at the Harbor begins with an assessment by an admissions specialist. Clients meet with specialists to identify their specific needs and co-occurring disorders. Clients are assigned to counseling services as needed.
According to its website, The Harbor specializes in treating adults experiencing any number of the following issues: depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety and panic, grief and loss, stress issues, and relationship difficulties.
IOP clients have access to approximately three to four weeks of care, Monday through Friday.
Family involvement is encouraged in the treatment process. Relationship counseling can involve significant others as needed to address specific issues. Regardless, clients are encouraged to work toward rebuilding their support networks at home and at work.
Licensed counselors run individual counseling sessions. Thomas Hospital, on which The Harbor operates, employs more than 1,100 staff members including over 200 physicians.
