ABOUT WINGS OF LIFE RECOVERY

Wings of Life Recovery is a faith-based nonprofit in Mobile, Ala., that runs a 90-day residential program for men and women seeking to recover from drugs and alcohol. Program graduates become eligible for extended care, ministry training, and transitional care.

Wings of Life is not a medical facility and therefore does not provide medically supervised detox but does require clients to do so prior to beginning treatment.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Residential treatment at Wings of Life Recovery has four major components to it: study, worship, work, and community. Throughout the 90-day program, participants cultivate growth and a sense of responsibility through a curriculum of classroom and web-based learning, skills training, prayer, work therapy, and outreach activities in the local community. Opportunities for vocational, educational, and financial training are also provided.

Following treatment, successful program graduates can enroll in the Dove Foundation, a ministry training program designed to build leadership skills, or the organization’s transitional living home, which provides job placement services for those looking to re-enter the workforce.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

As a faith-based organization, Wings of Life Recovery employ pastors as well as program directors for each of its men’s and women’s programs.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Wings of Life Recovery is unique insofar as it allows spouses to participate in treatment at the same time. It also encourages immediate family members to visit their loved ones in treatment twice a week.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

Feedback provided by Marylin, the only Best-rehabs.com survey respondent to date, was mixed. While Marylin enjoyed the Bible study, so much so that she gave eight out of 10 stars in indicating how strongly she’d recommend the center, she also felt that staff of the extended care programs were less helpful, leaving only two out of five stars for staff availability and three stars for the staff’s level of training and experience. “And aren’t a good example for the ones trying to get their Recovery,” she added.

Nevertheless, Wings of Life Recovery does have an excellent average rating of 4.6 out of five stars based on 11 Google reviews, several of whom credited the program with saving their lives. “Recovery is not for everyone, but those that really seek a heart change and struggle with the knowledge of how to get it, can get it from the Wings!!!” wrote Tiffany in one such review.[1]

FINANCING

According to its website, Wings of Life Recovery does not accept insurance.

  • I really loved the Bible study there. Getting full of the word. Doves & Ministers wasn't exactly helpful or friendly. And aren't a good example for the ones trying to get their Recovery.
