ABOUT CALIFORNIA RECOVERY

Located in the seaside community of Costa Mesa, Calif., California Recovery provides residential treatment, gender-specific residential treatment, and transitional sober housing for men and women struggling with chemical dependency. If necessary, the facility also offers non-medical detoxification services on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission, clients may participate in a comprehensive assessment to help clinicians form an individualized treatment plan. California Recovery’s programming blends evidence-based treatment methods and 12-step immersion with experiential and holistic therapies.

During the 90-day residential program, clients participate in a highly structured schedule of individual and group counseling, addiction education lectures, as well as holistic therapies, such as art therapy, guided meditation, yoga, and exercise regimens.

In addition, clients are introduced to the principles and practices of the 12-step model of recovery, which is central to California Recovery’s treatment approach. Clients attend 12-step meetings, study fellowship literature, and may complete coursework that guides the client through “step-work.”

To better serve its clientele’s needs, California Recovery also operates a men’s-only residential program. After the first 30 days of programming, men are encouraged to attend school and obtain employment. Along with 12-step participation and other treatment obligations, residents participate in recreational activities, such as softball games, surf outings, and visiting California’s Recovery mountain retreat.

Similarly, California Recovery offers a 90-day, women’s-only residential program, Yellowstone Recovery. Much like the men’s program, Yellowstone Recovery blends 12-step immersion with peer-bonding activities to promote a healthy, sober, and fulfilling lifestyle.

In addition to its residential programs, California Recovery operates two levels of transitional housing for program alumni: Sober Living and Living Sober. Sober Living provides a more supportive, supervised living environment, where residents maintain curfews while obtaining employment, volunteering, or attending school in a supervised environment.

Living Sober facilities are for residents who do not require a heightened level of supervision. However, clients must still adhere to curfews, obtain employment, and attend four 12-step meetings per week. Residence in both levels of transitional housing are subject to drug testing. According to the facility’s website, many clients maintain residence in Living Sober facilities for a year or more.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

California Recovery’s staff is comprised of licensed professional counselors, specialized support staff, housing managers, and residence supervisors. According to the facility’s website, many employees are former graduates of the California Recovery program.
