ABOUT POSITIVE DIRECTIONS
Located in Westport, Conn., Positive Directions is a nonprofit organization that offers outpatient counseling services to individuals struggling with addiction and/or co-occurring disorders. According to the center’s website, Positive Directions’ mission is to promote and support individuals, families, and communities in Southwestern Connecticut by providing youth development programs and individual counseling services for mental health and addictive behaviors.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Positive Directions initiates its treatment process by conducting comprehensive assessments of clients to identify substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Clients who would benefit from counseling are then enrolled in the outpatient program. The center provides individual counseling services focused on addressing problem behaviors and developing skills for sober living.
In addition to individual counseling, Positive Directions also offers group and family counseling to help clients develop a healthy lifestyle and support network. The center also provides specialized treatment and counseling services for gambling addiction, and can arrange intervention services if needed.
The employee assistance programs provided by Positive Directions offer confidential counseling services at no cost to employees, in accordance with the center’s contracts with employers. The program is designed to assist employees in coping with personal problems that may impact their job performance, such as family conflicts, anxiety, stress, bereavement, and substance abuse.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The treatment team at Positive Directions primarily consists of counselors, along with management, administrative, and facility maintenance staff members who contribute to the facility’s operations. The counseling staff holds advanced degrees and certifications in their respective fields.
