ABOUT KENT SUSSEX COMMUNITY SERVICES
Kent Sussex Community Services is a public agency that addresses addiction, mental health, and HIV/AIDS. The center serves people of all ages struggling with substance use and co-occurring disorders through specialized programming. The facility is also among only 10 substance abuse treatment facilities in Delaware that provide outpatient-based detoxification.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Kent Sussex Community Services offers outpatient-detoxification that enables clients to continue participating in everyday life, continue working, or attend school. Along with outpatient detoxification, which utilizes medication-assisted treatment (MAT), clients may also participate in one-on-one and group counseling sessions, as well as educational classes.
Smart Start is a three-year program for pregnant and postpartum women. Treatment includes counseling and case management, assistance in obtaining housing, financial assistance, employment assistance, as well as specialized substance abuse counseling to families.
The Children, Youth & Families Program provides outpatient behavioral health treatment to children and teens, as well as parents and other caregivers. The program treats a variety of emotional or behavioral conditions, such as depression, trauma, ADD and ADHD, parent-child conflict, as well as drug and alcohol use. The team also works with young adults 17 years of age and older as they transition into adulthood.
The center’s HIV/AIDS program provides case management and outreach prevention. In addition, a 24/7 on-call service offers transportation to detoxification and treatment centers for residents of Kent County Delaware.

Kent Sussex Community Services is accredited by the International Consortium on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) and licensed and funded by Delaware Health and Social Services and the Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health. The center’s website indicates the treatment team is comprised a physician, counselors, and support staff.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The one former client polled by Best-rehabs.com about Kent Sussex Community Services at the time of this writing offered highly favorable feedback, as reflected in consistently perfect and near-perfect ratings for evaluated metrics. The alum gave perfect five-star ratings for the facility’s affordability, co-occurring disorder treatment, counseling options, family participation, and level of staff experience and training. The alum cited “very effective” one-on-one counseling as a strength of the facility.
On secondary sites, reviewers provided positive opinions of the center to date: 3.8 out of five stars based on 28 reviews on Google reviews and 4.6 stars based of five reviews on Facebook, which the organization can manage. Many of the 68 percent of five-and four-star reviewers on Google used the word “great” to describe the staff, counselors, and program. “A great place for support,” alum Krystal wrote. Isolated criticism concerned early closings of the facility, though many reviewers did not leave commentary.
WHAT STAFF SAY
Two employees who reviewed the center on Glassdoor to date offered mixed opinions. One former employee, who offered a four-star rating, recommended working at Kent Sussex Community Services. The other reviewer, who gave a one-star rating, cited the “unpleasant working environment.”
