ABOUT MEADOWWOOD BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SYSTEM

Located in the historic city of New Castle, Del., MeadowWood Behavioral Health System is a psychiatric and addiction treatment center for adults and adolescents. The facility offers both residential and partial hospitalization programs (PHP), as well as medically-monitored detox services. Aftercare planning is also available.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment at MeadowWood Behavioral Health System begins with a comprehensive evaluation in order to determine the most effective level of care. Clients can contact the admissions department 24/7 to schedule evaluations. Walk-ins are also welcome at any time. Assessments are conducted by senior staff members and registered nurses.

Treatment involves a range of methods that address psychiatric and substance abuse issues simultaneously. Therapy is combined with medication management and educational coursework. Less conventional recreational therapies are also used to promote continued progress.

Treatment programs are available for different age ranges including adolescents (12-17), adults, and seniors. The different programs use similar treatment methods, but tailor them to the needs of the group. Pet therapy and academic programs are added to the adolescent program.

There is a specialized treatment track for clients 55 and older, as well as a dedicated dual diagnosis program for individuals with co-occurring mental health disorders.

PHP day programs are available for adults and adolescents and meet for six hours a day, five days a week. The primary treatment modality is group therapy, however, individual counseling sessions and medication management services are offered as needed.

  • Dual Diagnosis, morning meetings, medication continuity were they strengths. They have a pool no one can use, discharge ALWAYS involves getting you to agree to following the 12-step program. I cannot why you have to go through that, for a ptogram that has such a terrible success rate. My experience at Meadowood and all the other 15 months of treatment I when through over 10 years was torture. It keep me constantly between being an out of control drinker to a miserable person on the wagon. For the last 7 years I have defied the AA "Truths" and drink moderately without the craving to become drunk, which is contrary to the AA disease model. I am so glad I found peace in moderation

  • They are a mental hospital with several division, including dual diagnosis. There are very few activities. There is a pool we are not allowed to use. It is a fairly pleasant hospital. They do 12-step but also concentrate on mental issues.

  • Good or better if a drug or alcohol detox is needed. Drugs are used to detox. There are many groups. There was no face to face contact with the director, who was difficult to understand on the phone. The Ward nurse handled informing us of situations of the and discharge.
