ABOUT WAYSIDE HOUSE
Wayside House is a comprehensive treatment center for women who are struggling with substance abuse issues, including residential and intensive outpatient programs. Located in sunny Delray Beach, Fla., the facility’s programs are not only concerned with treating the addiction, but also with addressing the underlying physical and mental health issues.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Clients of Wayside House begin treatment with an assessment based on the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s Patient Placement Criteria. Staff recommend an individualized course of treatment based on the results.
The first option is the residential program, which typically lasts 90 days. It consists of two phases, the first of which centers around group sessions, individual therapy, and 12-step meetings; the second of which focuses on reintegration into the community. Clients search for employment during the day while they attend therapy at night.
Wayside House’s intensive outpatient program (IOP) consists of 12-step groups and highly-structured meetings that focus on self-esteem, problem solving, relapse prevention, sober life skills, and coping mechanisms. A seperate, less structured, outpatient program lasts eight weeks, and participants meet on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings.
Other features of Wayside House include a variety of holistic activities (e.g. yoga; meditation; and art, equine, and horticulture therapy), dual diagnosis treatment, referrals for detoxification services, and aftercare services. The facility also offers an Intervention Project for Nurses (IPN), a state program that treats chemically dependent nurses and allows them to re-enter the industry afterward, if desired. Wayside House also provides tailored treatment for women veterans through a partnership with the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Riviera Beach to provide
