ABOUT EMORY HEALTHCARE – THE EMORY CLINIC ADULT OUTPATIENT PSYCHIATRY AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SCIENCES PROGRAM
Located in Atlanta, Ga., the Emory Clinic Adult Outpatient Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences Program specializes in providing outpatient programs for adults with anxiety, mood disorders, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and related conditions.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment in the Emory Clinic Adult Outpatient Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences Program begins with an initial evaluation by clinical specialists to determine the appropriate method of treatment. The facility treats a range of mood, panic, anxiety, and social phobia disorders with specialized programming available for the treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The facility uses a variety of evidence-based treatment methods including psychotherapy, Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS). Medication management is also available including the administration of Ketamine to address condition symptoms.
Clients can enroll in outpatient programs focused on one or several different conditions simultaneously as needed. Family involvement is encouraged where appropriate. Couples and group counseling sessions are available to help rebuild support networks and repair home relationships.
While the facility is mainly focused on mood disorders, programming is available to treat a wide range of other conditions including substance abuse. Specialized programming is available for depression, anxiety, sexual dysfunction, and eating disorders.
Counseling programming is available to address common women’s issues. These include postpartum depression, parenting, body image issues, and others.

The staff at the Emory Clinic Adult Outpatient Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences Program includes licensed physicians, doctors, nursing staff, and clinicians. There are also licensed counselors with experience in the full range of areas that the facility treats.

They gave an average rating of 4.5 out of five stars for the level of staff experience. “The facility and its staff are exceptionally nice. Everyone treats you with respect and dignity despite what you’re going through,” one reviewer wrote. “You can tell that Emory really takes care of its patients and their family who might come to visit.” Another recalled that their loved one “came home a different person,” observing “their treatments are really effective.”
Loved ones gave an average rating of four out of five stars for affordability. Despite overall satisfaction with programming, some complained about the high costs for treatment, while one even referred to the facility as a “controlled environment wit little freedom.”
FINANCING
The Emory Clinic Adult Outpatient Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences Program accepts private insurance, public (state and federal government) plans, and employer-based plans. Medicaid and Medicare are accepted. Self-pay is accepted and can be completed online or in the office.
