Penfield Christian Homes provides hope to women who are afflicted with the disease of addiction. Our faith-based rehabilitation treatment facility firmly believes in the possibility of recovery through spiritual renewal. We are dedicated to helping women regain their physical and mental well-being, as well as their inner peace. Our approach to treatment encompasses the whole person, addressing the body, mind, and spirit. We assist our clients in achieving balance in these areas by cultivating a personal relationship with God, enabling them to nurture their relationships with family, friends, and others.

ABOUT PENFIELD CHRISTIAN HOMES – HEART CAMPUS

Penfield Christian Homes offers residential treatment that is rooted in faith to adults who are struggling with substance use disorder. At our Heart Campus, we exclusively provide treatment for adult women. Please note that detox services are not available on-site, and all clients must receive medical clearance prior to admission. There is a separate facility for men located in Union Point.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

While our treatment is faith-based, we also incorporate evidence-based recovery methods and relapse prevention techniques. Our website highlights that we have developed a program that recognizes addiction as a lifestyle-related health problem with biological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual dimensions. We believe that a personal faith in Jesus Christ is the key to achieving long-term sobriety.

Our program lasts for eight weeks and includes both group and individual therapy, as well as 12-step meetings, addiction education, regular Bible study and devotionals, and church services. Additionally, each individual is assigned specific on-campus duties as a means of helping them forge a new path toward responsible behavior. Recreational and team sport activities are also integrated into the program, and we offer a family education day for loved ones.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Our treatment team consists of certified alcohol and drug counselors. We emphasize our dedication to faith-based recovery on our website, acknowledging that while our counselors are highly trained in individual counseling, group counseling, crisis counseling, and family education, they recognize that the ultimate guidance for the counseling process comes from the Holy Spirit.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Our residents are housed in two 3,500 square-foot dormitories situated on 34 acres of picturesque countryside. Visitation is permitted on weekends once a client has been in treatment for more than 14 days.

I attended Penfield Christina Homes in October of 2013. When arriving at the campus I was unsure of what to expect and quite honestly was not sure if I wanted to stop using drugs. Within the first 2 weeks, i had given my life over to Christ and was baptized. Penfield Christian Homes 100% saved my life. I just celebrated 4 years clean and sober. Penfield showed me how to get sober and taught me the tools that I needed to maintain my sobriety. HEART Ministries completely changed my life. The love, encouragement and acceptance that I received there was like nothing I have ever experienced. I learned what it means to have a personal relationship with God. I learned that it could change my life. This gave me a feeling of hope, which I desperately needed, after making such a mess of my life.I was terribly ashamed of things that I had done and the places my addiction took me. Before HEART ( Penfield ) I never truly understood the power of the Cross. I didn't know that God had already forgiven me because of Jesus' sacrifice and that it was okay to forgive myself. The counselors all brought their own unique dynamic to the classes and always reminded us of how much God loves us. I finally began to understand that Jesus sacrificed His life so that I could have mine back. We learned from The Bible and The Big Book. All the answers are there, in those two books, for anyone that wants to change their life. I have been sober a little over 19 months now and I would not trade the time I spent there for anything in the world.

My experience at heart ministries was truly my saving grace. I found the love and support that I needed with other women who could relate to what I was going through without judgement. My relationship with God grew tremendously and I learned how to live a healthy sober life while having fun and making new friends that I still stay in contact with even after leaving. The program gives you a good sense of living in a healthy community and discipline. To take responsibility for your own actions and to realize that there are always consequences if you do something wrong. My daughter made amazing progress at the Heart Campus. The staff are caring professionals who used best practices for treatment along with Biblical principles to help her transform her life. They gave her the structure & limitations needed for her to focus in recovery, while providing her with opportunities for spiritual growth. The only thing that would make this a better program would be for it to be longer & provide transitional sober living component. My husband & I were very impressed with how the program allowed community groups such as a local church to be involved & support the participants. These supports gave my daughter the opportunity to get to know people in long term recovery. I graduated the program today! I can't say enough wonderful things about Heart! They have helped me get my life back. The counselors and staff are wonderful and care so much. This place is for rich people, the kind that give their kid's everything. And end up on dope. They were more interested in getting their money than really reaching out to help real addicts. Very disappointed that they turned a real addicts away because of money. God would never turn his back on a poor person reaching out for help.

As people suffering from substance abuse are very important to us, Penfield has a long history of providing treatment to individuals that are unable to pay for services. Under normal circumstances, when a person is unable to pay for services, we first ask that they reach out to their support network in an attempt to raise funds, and depending on the outcome will then attempt to make some type of payment arrangements, if they were unable to raise the funds themselves. I had been in contact for several days pleading for help about my addicted daughter. He said all he needed was a medical record ( which we had) and a 30 minute assessment over the phone. When i FINALLY got her to the point of attending this facility, she was turned away because I couldn't come up with $500 for a down payment out of $4500. I PLEADED with this man to let me make payments because she is addicted to many drugs. He told me that, " we have to pay the light bill". IF THIS IS A CHRISTIAN FACILITY, WHO COULD TELL?? I am a Christian and I am DESPERATE TO help my baby, but I NEVER want to act like this "Christian ". We are supposed to live "CHRIST LIKE ". DO YOU THINK JESUS WOULD HAVE TURNED MY DAUGHTER AWAY BECAUSE SHE DIDN'T HAVE $500 ? Pray about that sir.

I am completing the program here at HEART this week. I'm pleased with my counselor for all of her support and guidance through my program. I would say that the campus itself could use some TLC as well as the meals that are provided here on campus. One of the staff members has been a great role model to the girls and is the most caring staff member that there is here at HEART. There needs to be more supportive leadership that she possesses to courage the women here. Thank You

The overall experience was amazing here. The community in the surrounding area was such an open and generous support. One of the staff member's classes changed my world and heart. I wouldn't change them or her message to us for anything in this world. The support from the office was lacking in a lot of areas. I also did not receive much one on one counseling. But God used this place to change my life.

I love heart ministries it truly saved my life , the staff could be a little more involved in my recovery and be a little more understanding to my personal needs. the servant leaders for the most part really were with me the most through my personal issues and my recovery. The classes truly saved my life and are something I will carry with me forever and another one of the staff members was really here for me she listed to all of my problem and helped me through them. Good price. Great Outside AA meeting but it is only meeting they go to. Little contact with counsellors, terrible food, 1 AA meeting per week. They rely on "servant leaders", who are recent graduates to do 90% of all classes and counseling of clients. Staff does not even attend graduation ceremony. Very disappointed in overall lack of leadership.

Faith based program. Huge community support. Camaraderie among clients is strong. Inadequate counseling services. Not holistic in treatment. It's a really good program but really needs a lot of improvements in the area of counseling and client support.

Strong recovery campus and community. Well trained staff caring about the clients. Christian facility but not pushy. Accepts all women without discrimination. Can not think of any. I worked at Heart for 7 years and know first hand how many women recovered. Great percentage. Also my stepdaughter went through there after I left and has remained sober for 4 yrs.

I thought this was a good, loving, christian place for my loved one, only to find out that they do not stand by what they preach and will out right lie!!!! The Director should be totally ashamed of herself. Very unjust and just out for the money and not the well being for the future of your loved one. I pray to our Lord Jesus this doesn't happen to anyone else. May God Bless them all and they truly will know the meaning of Christianity and love. Too much for a family to go through. We will pray for them!!!
