ABOUT GENESIS MINISTRIES
Genesis Ministries is a faith-based nonprofit organization that runs long-term, residential rehab treatment for adult men in Kennesaw, a suburb 25 miles north of Atlanta. According to the nonprofit’s website, parolees and other offenders are accepted here.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Genesis Ministries requires a minimum commitment of eight months. The long-term program aims to address the mental, emotional, and spiritual elements of addiction through faith and unconditional love, as explored in a structured, multidisciplinary program. As they approach the end of treatment, men transition gradually back to society and family life with a newfound sense of accountability.
The nonprofit provides few additional details on treatment programming, though it does indicate that faith-based meetings take place on-site throughout the week.
In their Best-rehabs.com survey responses, a handful of reviewers indicated that treatment is not strongly based on the 12-Steps and that clients take part in both individual counseling and group therapy. The two surveyed on the facility’s counseling options each gave four stars, indicating that treatment here is varied, and a staffer applauded the follow-up care and the education available to family members. However, all three reviewers gave lower marks for the holistic options.
There is currently no information provided by the nonprofit regarding its treatment staff, though all three Best-rehabs.com survey respondents gave four or more stars for the staff’s level of training and experience.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
There is currently no information provided by the nonprofit regarding its living arrangements and related offerings, though the three Best-rehabs.com reviewers each gave five stars for the facility’s cleanliness, and between three and five stars for its accommodations. According to a staff member, “basic necessities” are provided upon admission if necessary.
Visitation hours are held for families on weekends.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
With two alumni awarding the facility five stars for the overall treatment effectiveness, and both indicating that they’d strongly recommend treatment here, feedback is excellent. “I finally found a relationship that was stronger than my relationship with drugs—a relationship with Jesus Christ!!” J.D. wrote. Yet both gave lower ratings for the facility’s holistic offerings, and the alum surveyed on family inclusion gave it just one star and was unimpressed with the food.
On Facebook, where facilities can manage their own reviews, Genesis Ministries has an excellent average rating of 4.3 out of five stars from six reviewers. Kristina, one of two reviewers to have shared written commentary in addition to a star-rating, told of a staff who “truly pour their heart and soul into the work they do for the Lord by giving men and their families hope.”
WHAT STAFF SAY
The single employee surveyed by Best-rehabs.com shared excellent feedback on this facility, awarding four or five stars in nearly every category evaluated, except for the facility’s exercise options and treatment for co-occurring disorders, which both received three stars. This reviewer also found treatment accessible, and commended the aftercare provisions and the education for clients and their families, but added: “Needs more patient activities on weekends and nights.”
There is currently no information provided on the facility’s website regarding its costs.
