ABOUT EASTERN IDAHO REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER – THE BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CENTER IN IDAHO FALLS

The Behavioral Health Center at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (EIRMC), located in Idaho Falls, offers inpatient psychiatric treatment to adolescents and adults struggling with mental health and substance abuse disorders. The facility is part of Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center but is located on a separate campus to provide privacy to clients.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The Behavioral Health Center at EIRMC accepts clients for admission 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Admissions to the facility are based on medical necessity. Four treatment programs are offered at the facility: the Special Care Adult Program and Daybreak Adult Program for adults 18 years and older, Teton Peaks Adolescent Residential Treatment for children ages 12 to 18 and the Adolescent Acute Care Program for children ages 13 to 17.

The facility’s treatment program focuses on cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma informed care. Throughout treatment, clients receive individual counseling, group therapy, educational groups, recreation therapy activities, medication management, psychosocial education, and support services. Families are included in the treatment program through family therapy. Treatment is available for substance abuse as well as various types of mental illness, family crises, depression, anxiety disorders, attention disorders, sleep disorders, and emotional and behavioral issues.

The treatment team at the Behavioral Health Center at EIRMC includes psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric technicians, nurses, counselors, dietitians, case managers, and recreation therapists.

The facility offers 74 beds for clients in a hospital-like setting. There are 28 adult beds and 46 adolescent beds. The Behavioral Health Center at EIRMC features semi-private rooms, a lounge, group room, outdoor courtyard, snack pantry, cafeteria, gym, and recreation areas.

REVIEWS

At time of writing, there has been only one loved one polled by Best-rehabs.com regarding the facility. The loved one left a generally positive review and wrote that they would recommend the Behavioral Health Center at EIRMC to a friend or loved one seeking treatment. The reviewer gave most categories high four- out of five-star ratings, and found the “personalized treatment by the staff” to be one of the facility’s greatest strengths. However, the loved one implied that the facility may not be worth the cost, and wrote that they utilized “less advanced technology,” though the loved one did not mention in what capacity.

On the facility’s Google page, there is an overall rating of 2.5 out of five stars based on 20 total reviews.[1] The reviews are polarized, with some reviewers reporting excellent experiences and some saying they had very bad experiences. Alum C.B., who gave one star, called the facility an “absolute hell.” They wrote, “I left way worse than the way I went in. The ‘therapists,’ if you can even call them that, were awful, and hardly part of my treatment…not a single group therapy session even touched on mental illness.” M.B., another alum, agreed that the “therapy groups could use some work,” but gave five stars and reported a good experience with the Behavioral Health Center at EIRMC overall. They wrote, “The doctors are amazing, techs are so much fun, The nurses are kind and they make sure you know they’re there to help any way they possibly can. I left there feeling like I was heard, seen, and cared about.”
