ABOUT JEFFERSON OAKS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CLINIC
Formally known as East Jefferson Mental Health Center, Jefferson Oaks Behavioral Health Clinic is a privately-owned treatment facility in Baton Rouge in operation since 2004. One of 60 for-profit facilities in the state of Louisiana, Jefferson Oaks provides partial hospitalization program (PHP) and intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adults and teens aged 15 to 18 who are affected by substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
At its core, programs at Jefferson Oaks Behavioral Health have the dual goals of alleviating the symptoms of substance use and stabilizing the client. There are two main programs available: partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient, as well as a dual diagnosis track that is available through both of these programs.
The PHP works with individuals seeking a structured alternative to inpatient hospitalization. During this short-term treatment option, participants receive medical monitoring and attend individual, group, and family therapy sessions. Counseling sessions may address depression, anxiety, trauma, mood disorders, anger management, suicidal ideation, grief and loss, and other mental and emotional challenges. Medication management may also be available.
PHP sessions are scheduled five days a week from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and though treatment generally lasts from one to three weeks, length of stay is determined by the client and their assigned clinicians.
In addition to these services, the IOP utilizes evidence-based practices of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) alongside art, music, mediation, and mindfulness. Adults attending IOP meet anywhere from nine to 12 hours each week for a duration of four to six weeks, while the IOP for teens takes place from 3 to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Jefferson Oaks can also arrange for family interventions to help individuals struggling with an addiction to drugs, alcohol, gambling, food, or sex. Interventions consist of an initial assessment, treatment recommendations, creating a plan of action, and transportation to the facility.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Programs are staffed by a multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, licensed clinical social workers, a registered nurse and nurse practitioner, addiction counselors, and support staff. Jefferson Oaks boasts a staff-to-client ratio of 3:1.
