ABOUT NEW BEGINNING YOUTH DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Operated by the Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services, New Beginnings Youth Development Center is a secured residential treatment facility for adolescent and young adult men. According to the facility’s website, all clients sent to the Center are “involved with the most serious and chronic offenses.” The facility specializes in the treatment of substance use disorder, as well as mental and behavioral health problems.

New Beginnings provides residents with a highly structured program designed to help develop self-awareness, promote positive thinking and community engagement, and improve decision-making and coping skills through behavior modification. In addition to substance abuse counseling, the program offers trauma-based behavioral health care, individual and group therapy, educational services and vocational training, workforce development, and on-site schooling.
Family members are contacted by case managers on a weekly basis to review their loved one’s progress. Family visits are encouraged and held on Saturdays and Sundays.
