ABOUT OWENSBORO HEALTH – BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CARE
Located in Owensboro, Ky., Owensboro Health Regional Hospital offers short-term inpatient and outpatient care for adults experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at Owensboro Health treats individuals affected by a wide range of behavioral issues including but not limited to the following: trauma, drug and alcohol addiction, familial and relationship challenges, neurocognitive disorders, anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders. Though treatment is very much short-term – the average stay here is about three days – each client receives a personalized treatment plan consisting of therapy in both private and group settings, exercise, and medication management and prescription.
Clients may access treatment either through the hospital’s Emergency Department or as a referral from doctor or therapist. Visiting hours take place daily from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Multidisciplinary in nature, the hospital staff include an experienced team of social workers, nurses and nurse practitioners, counselors, and therapists. Clients may also receive spiritual guidance and support from a hospital chaplain.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Aside from its “safe, secure 12-bed inpatient unit,” the hospital provides few additional details on its accommodations. The two Best-rehabs.com survey respondents, however, each shared four or five stars for the accommodations, meals, exercise and leisure opportunities, and level of cleanliness.
WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY
In their Best-rehabs.com survey responses, two anonymous loved ones described the staff as “very encouraging and supportive,” “friendly,” and “very professional.” For the most part, they also gave ratings of three, four, and five stars for metrics measuring the co-occurring treatment, the counseling options, the level of family inclusion, and the effectiveness of treatment itself.
More critically, one reviewer reported a need for improved follow-up procedures while the other told Best-rehabs.com: “Not enough rest.”
