North Kent Guidance Services (NKGS)

North Kent Guidance Services (NKGS) operates two facilities in mid-western Michigan: one in Grand Rapids and this facility in a quiet location on the outskirts of the small city of Greenville. Both centers offer outpatient treatment for individuals struggling with a wide range of mental and behavioral health disorders.

NKGS offers extensive assessment services, including psychological testing and diagnostics for disabilities, learning difficulties, and gerontology, as well as substance use assessments, drivers license evaluations, and other forensic services.

Counseling is offered in individual, family, and group settings. Clients work to meet goals and objectives that they set themselves, in collaboration with their therapist.

There’s a dedicated center for children and families, which offers evidence-based modalities such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) and dielectical behavior therapy (DBT) as well as more holistic offerings, such as play therapy, grief and loss therapy, and parenting education and therapy. The center can treat scenarios such as eating disorders, cutting, trauma, and problematic social skills. There are also dedicated services for the LGBT community.

Treatment is available in the daytime, evenings, and on Saturdays, in order to fit a variety of schedules.

The team includes licensed, PhD-level psychologists, master’s level counselors, and licensed social workers. The single individual polled by to date gave the facility five out of five stars for its staff’s level of training and experience.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY has not yet received any reviews directly from alumni of NKGS, and secondary sites yielded unanimously positive feedback at the time of this writing: four five-star ratings, all left on Google.[1] “I went here a couple years ago, and they were super nice, and it’s a great environment. They make you feel welcomed,” M.S. wrote in a representative review in 2017; “I got a lot of much needed help,” D.J. wrote in 2016.

The single loved one polled by to date would strongly recommend NKGS. “Very good,” they wrote, giving the facility two stars for its holistic offerings, but four or five stars in almost all of the 14 remaining treatment metrics. Five-star ratings were awarded to the center’s family participation, counseling options, and ability to treat co-occurring disorders.

NKGS accepts many insurance policies and insurance plans and offers payment plans. The single individual polled by to date gave the facility five out of five stars for its affordability.
