ABOUT ALLINA HEALTH – DELLWOOD RECOVERY CENTER
Part of Allina Health, a not-for-profit healthcare provider, Dellwood Recovery Center provides a full continuum of programming for adults struggling with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders. Located in Cambridge, Minn., 47 miles north of Minneapolis, Dellwood Recovery Center provides inpatient, a partial hospitalization program (PHP), and an intensive outpatient program (IOP) for adults, as well as a comprehensive, phase-based IOP for adolescents.
If necessary, the hospital-based facility also provides medically monitored detoxification services.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the center’s website, clients undergo an initial substance abuse assessment upon admission to determine an appropriate level of care and to form an individualized treatment plan. Adults who require detoxification are referred to the short-term inpatient program.
Unique to Dellwood, the facility also provides a one-day, self-assessment class for individuals not diagnosed with chemical dependency, but who feel that substance abuse may have caused recent problems. The class is designed to allow people to assess their own substance abuse.
As a hospital-based treatment program, the goal of the facility’s inpatient program is to quickly stabilize the patient and refer them to a less-restrictive level of care. Programming combines evidence-based treatments with 12-step principles and philosophies. During treatment, patients may attend 12-step meetings, study fellowship literature, perform associated “step-work,” group and individual counseling sessions, as well as attend educational presentations on substance abuse, mental health, and relapse prevention.
People with co-occurring disorders may receive ongoing medication management. Dellwood offers a program for family members to educate loved ones on the process of recovery.
Offering similar treatment approaches as inpatient, PHP involves six hours of daily programming, while IOP provides three-hour treatment sessions in the morning and evening.
The outpatient-based adolescent program involves three distinct stages, and to accommodate adolescent schedules, sessions are held after school hours.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

Supporting the alum’s opinion, however, the loved one gave a two-star rating for the facility’s incorporation of holistic treatment methods. Although offering a four-star rating for the level of family participation, the loved one wrote: “It does not have many options when it comes to treatments. I think this site is a good cost effective choice with what it has to offer.”
