ABOUT LUTHERAN FAMILY SERVICES- LINCOLN
Lutheran Family Services operates eight facilities through Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas. The Lincoln location provides outpatient and intensive outpatient substance abuse programming and co-occurring mental health conditions treatment for adults.
Lutheran’s Lincoln facility also provides intensive case management through a Refugee Support Program for immigrants and victims of human trafficking.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Lutheran Family Services provides outpatient programming for adults that incorporates therapies with education about the disease model of addiction and healthy lifestyle skills.
Clients must attend all meetings and complete all assignments given. To ensure clients comply with a substance-free lifestyle, they must participate in random drug screenings.
Clients will have individualized treatment plans. Individual, group, and family therapy sessions are offered each week. Clients may participate in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) psychotherapy to treat trauma.
The center also offers medication management, anger management classes, and drug and alcohol education. The facility encourages family participation as a part of therapy.
Specialized treatment groups focused on topics like sex offender treatment for adults, pregnancy- and parenting-related issues, and sexual abuse support groups.
The intensive outpatient program includes a minimum of 10 hours of treatment per week for six to eight weeks.
The LFS At Ease program provides counseling services for active military personnel, veterans, and their families.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Lutheran Family Services includes therapists, a director, clinical supervisor, and behavioral health manager.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
Two anonymous alumni responding to a Best-rehabs.com poll gave positive reviews of the facility. The alumni gave three- and four-star ratings to the facility’s accommodations and treatment effectiveness. One reviewer gave three-star ratings to the majority of the 15 evaluated categories but wrote that the facility could use “nicer people.”
On Lutheran Family Service’s Facebook page, which the facility has the ability to manage, 55 reviewers gave an average 4.4 out of five stars to all services offered. Though several commenters praised the facility and thanked it for saving their lives, one reviewer wrote about a therapist missing their appointment.
WHAT STAFF SAY
Though no staff members have responded to a Best-rehabs.com poll to date, third-party reviews on Glassdoor are mixed. Sixteen reviewers Lutheran Family Services gave a collective rating of three out of five stars — which includes reviews for programs at different locations. Several employees complained of micromanagement, overworked staff, and a lack of support from upper management. Employees praised “caring” co-workers who provide high quality treatment to clients.
FINANCING
Lutheran Family Services accepts most private insurances and sliding-scale fees are available for those without insurance and those eligible for state subsidies. Services for active military personnel, veterans, and their families is provided regardless of ability to pay.
