ABOUT PARALLELS
Parallels is a private mental health and substance abuse treatment center housed within an office building in the outskirts of Lincoln, Neb. Outpatient treatment for addiction and co-occurring disorders is available for adolescents and adults, as well as an intensive outpatient (IOP) program for adults. The facility is also able to assist those involved with the criminal justice system.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Before beginning treatment at Parallels, clients undergo a comprehensive mental health and/or substance assessment to determine the best treatment plan based on the client’s unique needs. Staff then work with each client to develop a plan with achievable goals.
Treatment at this facility involves individual and group counseling that is primarily based on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Although the facility’s website does not specifically detail all treatment modalities used, staff are also trained in dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and trauma-based interventions. According to the facility’s Facebook page, treatment is designed to improve decision making and coping skills.[1]
A staff member surveyed by Best-rehabs.com indicated the facility does not rely on 12-step or faith-based treatment models. According to a brochure published in 2016, the facility also offers anger prevention/management and adult and adolescent substance use education programs.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
