ABOUT NORTHEAST TREATMENT CENTERS
Operating seven facilities throughout Philadelphia and the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania and Delaware, Northeast Treatment Centers (NET) provides a wide range of behavioral health and mental health services for adults and adolescents struggling with substance abuse, primary psychiatric disorders, or co-occurring difficulties. Along with a residential program for adult men, the nonprofit treatment provider also offers intensive outpatient programs (IOP) for men, women, and adolescents. In addition, NET operates two medication-assisted therapy (MAT) clinics in Philadelphia, as well as a medical detox facility in Wilmington, Del.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Before beginning treatment at Northeast Treatment Centers, clients participate in an initial substance abuse and/or psychiatric assessment to ensure each program’s level of care is appropriate. Clients may be referred to the Kirkwood Recovery Center located in Delaware for medically-assisted detox services if needed. Adult men who require structure and supervision to acquire sobriety may be referred to NET’s Wharton Center for residential treatment. NET utilizes a combination of evidence-based treatment approaches, pharmacological intervention, and 12-step immersion to promote lasting recovery.
During residential treatment, men adhere to a highly-structured schedule of group psychotherapy and educational classes. Individual counseling sessions are also provided to address specific concerns and to promote positive cognitive behaviors. Clients also participate in daily 12-step meetings. Educational classes are provided including life skills training workshops to promote sober living.
Once a client is stable in their recovery, NET emphasizes community reintegration as an important component of treatment. To promote self-reliance, clients may have the opportunity to attain their G.E.D., receive vocational training and employment assistance, and participate in financial literacy workshops. Once a resident completes the residential treatment program, clinicians may encourage the individual to transition into an intensive outpatient program (IOP) to continue treatment if needed.
NET offers its intensive outpatient program to men, women, and adolescents. To better serve its clientele, NET’s intensive outpatient programs are gender- and age-specific, ensuring programming is relevant to its intended population. NET also offers specialized program tracks for women struggling with issues of trauma and a program for co-occurring disorders. IOP consists of individual, group, and family counseling sessions, as well as psychoeducational seminars. If necessary, clients also receive ongoing medication management to address any psychiatric concerns.
“NET Steps” is the treatment provider’s medication-assisted therapy (MAT) program, which offers ambulatory (outpatient-based) detoxification and specialized program tracks that utilize addiction medications, such a Suboxone, Vivitrol, or methadone. Along with a medication regimen, clients participate in group, individual, and family counseling sessions, and NET Steps offers specialized tracks for Latinos, women, and pregnant women.
