Located in Houston, Texas, Last Chance Recovery Center is a non-profit sober living home for men transitioning from treatment to a sober lifestyle. Men are required to find work while in a sober living home.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the facility’s website, the center’s goal is to provide a clean and sober environment for adult men who are struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. This program was designed for aftercare.
Each resident is required to get work, pay a “minimal amount” for room and board, and must attend mandatory meetings while in treatment.
The 12-steps are the focus of Last Chance Recovery Center’s group therapy sessions. Spiritual counseling is available at the request of a client. There are Ministers of all faiths available. Individual therapy is also provided.
Last Chance Recovery Center believes good nutrition is essential to recovery, therefore the center provides wholesome food and sack lunches.
To be admitted into the program, men must be willing to go to any length to obtain a sober lifestyle, agree to obey house rules, participate in group meetings, assist others who are seeking help, have a positive attitude toward other residents, and must be employed or willing to seek employment.
The center’s website notes that “addiction is only symptom,” and the problems are usually something such as fear and resentment, selfishness, self centered, guilt and shame, pride, anger, and mental isolation.
