ABOUT MAGNOLIA BEHAVIORAL HOSPITAL OF EAST TEXAS

The Magnolia Behavioral Hospital of Longview, a 76-bed facility located in Longview, Texas, offers two distinct inpatient and outpatient program tracks for adults: The Oak Program and The Bridges Program. The Oak Program provides psychiatric treatment services for individuals with primary mental health issues, while The Bridges Program focuses on adults dealing with substance abuse issues and co-occurring disorders, making it one of the few facilities in the state with such tailored programming.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Upon admission, clients undergo a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, and if applicable, a substance abuse assessment to develop an individualized care plan. The Bridges Program utilizes evidence-based treatment methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and the 12-Steps, to help clients achieve and maintain recovery. Medication-assisted therapy (MAT), such as Suboxone, may be used when necessary to minimize withdrawal discomfort. Ongoing medication management is also an important component to address mental health symptoms.

The Bridges and Oaks Programs employ a structured schedule of group psychotherapy, individual therapy, process groups, and illness education. Additionally, clients receive educational classes on nutrition and spirituality, while Bridges Program participants attend workshops on relapse prevention and 12-step groups in the evenings. Recreational activities, such as volleyball, basketball, and therapeutic hikes, are also offered.

To support loved ones during the inpatient program, The Bridges and Oak Programs hold family counseling sessions and educational groups. Comprehensive discharge plans are collaboratively developed to ease the transition back into the community. Clients may also be recommended to transition to the facility’s outpatient programs if necessary.

Magnolia Behavioral Hospital of East Texas Reviews

This place is a complete joke. They get your hopes up telling you, yes they can & will help you and will admit you after an evaluation. Then when you get there, they spend quite a bit of time asking questions to set you up to fail from meeting their “criteria” to be admitted. Oh but wait, after they have grilled you endlessly they inform you they will ONLY accept you if you are physically healthy. They don't tell you this up front, EVERYONE – (there were NUMEROUS calls made) that I spoke to initially on the phone was made aware of particular health issues concerning this patient. So then my brother & I were sent on a wild goose chase for "medical clearances" that certified physicians at a bonafide hospitals sign off on. When the staff at Magnolia was faxed the MEDICAL clearance, they over rule the hospital Dr's "clearance" and tell you NO! And this particular staff member did it extremely rudely! AFTER we were told, by a different person at Magnolia - go get the medical clearance, come back here and we will admit you! Quite honestly, the fact they are allowed to get away with getting a person’s hopes up, (a person who already has intense behavioral issues and desperately needs help), and then putting that person through the wringer, making them jump through hoops to be told NO after that patient does everything they can to comply, does NOT appear to me to be any kind of place that sincerely wants to HELP anyone. That fact alone should disqualify them from the status of “behavioral health” facility.
Horrible care. Lack of training to ALL employees. They care only about money.
My stay at Magnolia Hospital I want to give a very detailed play-by-play of my experience at Magnolia Hospital, but because it will be very long, I will give a brief overview of the issues instead. You will have e-visits with the Dr.Professionalism of staff. The intake staff talk very loudly.Sleep you will not get good rest during your stay at magnolia. The orderlies check on you every 15 minutes by coming into your room and turning on the light. Group time - There is only one group available at a time. Everyone goes to the same sessions no matter what your particular ailment is. If you are in need of true mental health treatment, do not stay at Magnolia Hospital. The orderlies are nice and don't treat you like you are crazy.
having good care givers. I thought all the workers except for my doctor were good at their jobs
It was very nice until the doors shut behind you and all the paperwork is signed. The gym is 40 years old and there is nothing holistic about this place. It took two hospital stays and numerous visits to specialists for my mental and physical problems.By all means do not go there.
