Medical City Green Oaks Hospital is a psychiatric hospital located in Dallas, Texas. Since 1983, the hospital has been providing treatment for adolescents, seniors, and adults dealing with mental health and substance use disorders. Medical City Green Oaks Hospital has four outpatient locations in the DFW area.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The inpatient treatment at Green Oaks Hospital is designed for clients experiencing psychiatric-related crises in a medical setting. The hospital maintains separate units for adult psychiatric and adult substance abuse patients, as well as for adolescents and seniors. Inpatient clients participate in community meetings, therapy groups, recreational therapy, spirituality groups, health literacy education, and reflection groups. Substance abuse patients also have daily Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous groups. A typical stay at the hospital lasts one to seven days.

Outpatient treatment at Green Oaks Hospital is also short-term care, with individualized plans averaging one to six weeks. The hospital offers an intensive day program for clients with a dual diagnosis of psychiatric and addiction conditions.

The main drug and alcohol program at Green Oaks Hospital is an eight-week track, scheduled evenings and offered out of the Plano location. This group-based outpatient program includes substance abuse education, life skills training, family sessions, and regular drug and alcohol testing. The program incorporates 12-step concepts and the core Recovery Principles outlined by the federal government’s Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. After completing the program, individuals may participate in once-a-week aftercare groups.

Medical City Green Oaks Hospital also provides integrated mental and physical health care at some of its outpatient locations. Individual counseling may be arranged as needed.

  • Strengths: Nutrition, counseling, class education learning how to cope, life skill. Weaknesses: Exercise program, being able to get outside for fresh air wxcept for meals. When coming off drugs there is a tendency to be nervous, pace not sleep. It has a good follow up program. After detox there is a great out patient program. After you finish this program there r other follow up programs. The dr sees you daily.

I'n not sure that Green Oaks is even a rehab center, but I do think that if a person checks in, they should have to stay for a min. of 3 weeks.

  • Client X was admitted into the facility because of cutting and unruly behavior. After spending a significant amount of time in Green Oaks, her behavior did a 90% turn around for the good. Her cutting continued but with guidance from Doctors I was able to understand much more and help her much more than before. She has been cut free for almost 4 years now.
