ABOUT HIGHLINE MEDICAL CENTER

Located in Burlen, Wash., Highline Medical Center is part of CHI Franciscan Health, a network of hospitals in the Seattle and Tacoma areas. The facility provides inpatient and stabilization services for individuals struggling with mental health disorders, chemical dependency, or a dual diagnosis. Highline Medical Center is equipped to provide medical detoxification on-site.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to Highline Medical Center’s website, the treatment center may conduct an initial psychiatric and behavioral assessment to diagnose the primary issues contributing to hospitalization. As a hospital-based program, the goal of treatment is to stabilize the patient and refer them to an appropriate program.

CHI Franciscan Health provides longer term inpatient programs for adults and youth within its network of hospitals. Inpatient care is available at St. Joseph’s Medical Center and Kitsap Mental Health Services. In the past, Highline Medical Center operated a standalone facility for chemical dependency, the Highline Addiction Recovery Center, which is now Cascade Behavioral Health.

According to results from Best-rehabs.com surveys, chemical dependency treatment blends 12-step involvement with psychotherapy. Patients may participate in individual and group counseling and receive a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of the 12-step model of recovery. Medication management may also be incorporated to treat the mental health issues associated with a dual diagnosis.

Highline Medical Center treats a range of psychiatric issues, including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and schizophrenia. Treatment for a primary psychiatric disorder may involve pharmacological intervention, recreational therapy, and psychotherapy.
