ABOUT SOUND RECOVERY CENTER
Located 10 miles southeast of downtown Tacoma, Wash., Sound Recovery Center treats adult men and women struggling with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders, primarily through a few intensities of outpatient treatment and a partial hospitalization program (PHP). Medical detox is not available on-site, but the facility can make a referral to a local detox facility.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Sound Recovery Center subscribes to the disease model of addiction, and uses the 12-Steps. According to its website, the facility treats the mind, body, and spirit. There is a 30-day minimum commitment, but some clients are in treatment here for more than 90 days.
Treatment begins with an individual assessment. Afterward, the primary mode of treatment seems to be the facility’s PHP program. Treatment combines evidence-based practices, education about addiction, and 12-step meetings. Programming also includes individual counseling, group counseling, family gym memberships, outdoor activities, employment assistance, relapse-prevention work, and life-skills training.
Sound Recovery Center’s holistic approach addresses issues including drug and alcohol abuse, panic and trauma, anxiety, depression, and various others listed on the facility’s website.
According to the facility’s website, an intensive outpatient program (IOP) is available in the evenings, though no information is provided about the frequency or content of its programming.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Sound Recovery Center’s website notes all counselors are certified chemical dependency professionals or chemical dependency professional trainees. The center also employs an M.D. on a contract basis.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The three alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com to date gave very positive feedback. They all gave four- and five- out of five stars across the board, including when asked if they would recommend Sound Recovery Center. However, they provided lower ratings for meals and nutrition.
“Great place to get well,” an alum wrote in a representative review.
The 11 individuals who left Google Reviews for the facility provided an average of 3.5 out of five stars. While most reviewers provided positive commentary, the few who left negative feedback complained about billing and pricing.
The individuals who have position opinions of the facility wrote about the wonderful staff, the helpful program, and credited the center with saving their life.
On the facility’s Facebook page, which the facility can curate, 22 reviewers rated the facility a perfect five stars while one rated it one star to date.
Positive reviews praised the staff as passionate and supportive. “Thanks for all your support and help. I love you all,” Dawna wrote in a representative review.

The two loved ones polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided positive feedback. They both gave five out of five stars for treatment effectiveness.
“My friends treatment was successful and she speaks very highly of the staff and the amenities,” a loved one wrote. “She has a new outlook on life. My friend was really happy with her outcome and had nothing negative to say.”

Sound Recovery Center’s website notes that numerous insurers are accepted, including Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, and United. Healthgrove reports the facility takes Medicaid and Medicare as well.
