ABOUT BELLIN PSYCHIATRIC CENTER

Bellin Psychiatric Center, located in a leafy, residential area of Green Bay, Wis., is operated by Bellin Health, a healthcare provider that offers a full range of medical services throughout the Green Bay area. As a comprehensive psychiatric center for adults and adolescents, the facility offers treatment for substance abuse and a variety of other mental health issues. While short-term inpatient treatment is available for psychiatric patients, substance abuse treatment is offered on an outpatient basis only, and patients must be at least 18 years old to participate in the program.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Treatment at Bellin is based on 12-step principles and includes a mix of individual counseling, group counseling, family sessions, and educational sessions and workshops. Discussions and instruction cover topics such as stress management, relapse prevention, grief, and lifestyle issues.

Based on their individual needs and where they are in their recovery journey, patients may choose from outpatient treatment, aftercare/continuing care, and relapse prevention programming.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

Bellin employs a diverse staff of healthcare professionals, including psychiatrists, social workers, addiction therapists, nurse practitioners, nurses, occupational therapists, case managers, and mental health therapists.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The six alumni surveyed to date found their treatment at Bellin to be effective and worth the cost.

Bill, an alum who issued five out of five-star ratings in nearly every category including treatment effectiveness, wrote to Best-rehabs.com: “To this day I believe it was the best choice I ever made and it was well worth the cost of knowing i would never have to give in to the urge to drink again.” Alum Claire echoed this praise, commenting, “this is the place that helped me begin my road to recovery. I’ve been sober almost 4 years thanks to the team teaching, listening and caring.”

Amidst relatively high ratings, some alumni did share more critical reviews of Bellin. One common theme was the lack of holistic treatment options and the low affordability. Alumni rated these categories with only one or two out of five stars. One anonymous alum wrote: “wish it was more affordable for people that need it.”

As for the available counseling options, the reviews received by Best-rehabs.com were highly mixed. One anonymous survey respondent listed good counselors among the facility’s strengths, and another anonymous alum noted that the program “helps with your needs;” however, another anonymous alum was less impressed with the staff and wrote: “the staff focuses on a large amount of addictions small amount of specialties.” Staff received similarly mixed reviews on secondary sites such as Facebook, where the facility earned an average of 3.8 stars from 13 reviewers.

On Google, Bellin faired well with an overall 4.1 stars from a total of 11 people. Even the single one-star reviewer, Mary, admitted that “The physical facility is great. The general nursing staff was awesome. The social worker was wonderful and compassionate.” Her complaints seemed to stem from difficulties with one indvidiaul staff member.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The four loved ones of alumni gave Bellin mixed reviews. Friends and family vouched for treatment effectiveness, but also provided lower scores for holistic options. Most categories, including exercise & leisure, connectivity, affordability and counseling options, were given less than four out of five stars.

Another loved one noted a lack of individualized attention and suggested that the facility may be better suited to address its psychiatric patients. They wrote: “Seems to be helpful with certain mental problems but not the best at listening to an individual upon arrival.” However, this reviewer still awarded the facility four stars for treatment effectiveness, adding: “Has many very qualified personnal to assist in a patients needs.”

FINANCING

Bellin accepts private health insurance, Medicaid, and Medicare. Some financial assistance is available to those who qualify.

Bellin Psychiatric Center Reviews

I had been through treatment 3 times prior to starting their outpatient treatment. I had good experiences at other centers but wasn’t ready to quit. So, while the others were helpful this is the place that helped me begin my road to recovery. I’ve been sober almost 4 years thanks to the team teaching, listening and caring. While a portion of the patients are court ordered and seemingly not serious about getting clean there are also a number of people who want it just as bad as you. Like with any treatment program, the person has to want to get sober more than anything and be willing to put their sobriety first in order to succeed. Sobriety is aided by the facility but ultimately dependent on the addicts. All you need is honesty, open mindedness and willingness right?

  • Not enough diversity. This is the only facility, so the staff focuses on a large amount of addictions small amount of specialties.

  • To this day I believe it was the best choice I ever made and it was well worth the cost of knowing i would never have to give in to the urge to drink again. I was the classic drunk who had reached rock bottom. My best friend took me to the Center and I knew that I would never drink again after only a few days. I also quit my periodic use of grass and other milder drugs. My only regret is that they did not know that they could help us quit at that time. It took me more than a quarter of a century to accomplish that. Now, I am smoke free also, but it may be too late. I have severe COPD and a form of leukemia called CLL. Both are lethal if not treated properly. Both can be directly linked to smoking cigarettes or cigars.
