ABOUT NORTH CENTRAL HEALTH CARE
North Central Health Care provides inpatient and outpatient mental health and addiction treatment, detox services, treatment for developmental disabilities, water therapy, and adult protective services for residents of Langlade, Lincoln, and Marathon Counties. Headquartered on the bank of the Wisconsin River in Wasau, central Wisconsin, the organization also has branches in Merrill, Antigo, and Tomahawk.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
For addiction, North Central Health Care offers detox and acute inpatient services. In addiction to 24-hour-monitored inpatient detox, the facility offers ambulatory (or outpatient) detox for individuals aged 18+ who need to withdraw from alcohol and/or opiates. Ambulatory detox usually takes no more than 48 hours, and participants are monitored by nurses.
A six-week day treatment program involves attending programming for four complete mornings a week. The scheduled hours are filled with a combination of 12-step philosophy; evidence-based methodologies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT); education about substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders; and music and art therapy.
North Central Health Care also offers less intensive outpatient addiction treatment for both adults and adolescents. Treatment is individualized, and clients might participate in any combination of individual, group, and/or family counseling. There are dedicated men’s and relapse prevention groups, as well as groups on motivation and the foundations of recovery. In addition to counseling, the center offers support and education for the individual’s loved ones; support for improved physical health, such as nutritional and exercise advice; and coaching in problem-solving and decision-making.
DUI services are also available at this facility.
