The BLVD philosophy emphasizes mindfulness, meditation, trauma work, giving back, creative self expression, community, and the importance of laying solid groundwork for a soulful and sustainable recovery. The approach to addiction is tri-fold, offering treatment that focuses on the mind, body and spirit. Through comprehensive outpatient services for alcohol and drug addiction, BLVD helps clients change their negative self perceptions and beliefs. Treatment is based on AA’s 12-Steps of recovery, and is administered in conjunction with group and individual therapy sessions.
ABOUT BLVD TREATMENT CENTERS
With facilities in West Los Angeles, Hollywood, San Diego, Portland, and Orange County, BLVD Treatment Centers is a growing organization focused on providing intensive outpatient (IOP) and residential treatment for young adults. Located near the beach in a stylish hotel-like building, the West Los Angeles location offers an array of specialized therapy tracks in its IOP and supportive housing, including ones for LGBT individuals, clients age 35 and older, and professionals. Medically monitored detox services are available at BLVD’s Hollywood and Riverside County locations.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment at this facility begins with an initial assessment phone call, and some clients are admitted within 24 hours. Intensive outpatient programming includes biopsychosocial assessment and dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders is provided. Upon admission to a BLVD treatment center, clients can choose between a traditional 12-step approach to recovery along the lines of Alcoholics Anonymous, a SMART Recovery track, and an approach that incorporates concepts from Buddhism.
All programs utilize trauma-informed treatment, including individual and group counseling, art therapy, social interaction, cognitive behavioral therapy, drug testing, and education addressing such topics as nutrition, relationships, and emotion regulation. Family involvement is limited and determined for each individual’s treatment plan.
BLVD also offers an aftercare program for alumni of the IOP, which encourages continued sober living services and regular individual therapy sessions if desired.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
The BLVD treatment team includes a licensed clinical psychologist, master’s level therapists, and case managers, according to information provided to Best-rehabs.com by the facility. Some employees are in personal recovery and at least one teaches at a local university.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
While the agency’s website reports that the Riverside County detox center has six beds in private and semi-private rooms, no details regarding the West Los Angeles facility’s capacity are provided. However, housing for IOP clients is represented as hip, playful, and comfortable. Clients are allowed use of their cellphones and electronic devices. Amenities include gourmet meals and fresh smoothies, beautiful outdoor lounging spaces, and opportunities to participate in yoga, equine therapy, drum circles, and acupuncture.
Facility staff members are available to assist clients with travel arrangements.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The three alumni polled by Best-rehabs.com to date indicated that BLVD is a stylish and effective facility for holistic addiction treatment. The facility’s affordability, cleanliness and upkeep, treatment effectiveness, and counseling options all received perfect five-star ratings from all three former clients.
One reviewer rated meals just three stars, and another indicated that treatment for co-occurring mental health disorders was dissatisfying. With these exceptions, all other ratings for the facility’s elements, including the staff’s level of training and experience and opportunities for family participation, were four or five stars.
