ABOUT CLEARVIEW TREATMENT PROGRAMS

Located in Venice Beach, less than a mile from the beach of Los Angeles, Clearview Treatment Programs specializes in complex diagnoses like dual diagnosis and borderline personality disorder (BPD). It offers a full continuum of care programs, from medical detox to residential and outpatient programs.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

Clearview’s treatment programs follow the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous and, except for its Women’s Center for Borderline Personality Disorders (BPD), are all co-ed. Those enrolled in a residential program must commit to a minimum stay of 30 days.

The dual diagnosis residential treatment program makes use of a variety of evidence-based practices such as dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). Participants also benefit from holding their focus during mindfulness training in both group and private therapy. A three-day intensive course offers a DBT skills course for families of women at the BPD center as well as family support groups. Couples’ counseling can be scheduled on an as-needed basis or in a series.

The Clearview Commitment is the center’s relapse policy. It stipulates that a client who relapses after successfully completing 90 days of residential treatment followed by 90 days at the outpatient center can return for up to 30 days at no additional cost.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The staff includes numerous psychiatrists and Ph.D. level consultants as well as therapists, counselors, and social workers who are master’s level, licensed, or certified. Yoga instructors, life coaches, and an art group leader are also on staff.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

Substance abuse and dual diagnosis residents reside in two co-ed Craftsman-style homes. These contemporary homes are located only a mile from the beach in Venice.

WHAT ALUMNI SAY

The single alum to have completed a Best-rehabs.com survey to date called their experience at Clearview’s dual diagnosis program “a life changing” one. Z.H. described the therapists as “intelligent, skillful and understanding” and claimed that (most of the) staff made them feel “welcome, comfortable and valued.”

Reviews on secondary sources were also generally positive. Like the Best-rehabs.com survey respondent, reviewers celebrated the program’s staff and its efficacy. “I can honestly say I had respect for every therapist on staff,” alum Stacy wrote on Yelp. “They were all approachable, skilled and likable. Plus, many of them were sober themselves, which made them even easier to relate to.”

Though he also found the staff to be “really lovely people” Charlie told Yelp that some staff gave in to the wishes of one particular client at the expense of others.

WHAT FRIENDS & FAMILY SAY

The single loved surveyed by Best-rehabs.com gave a mixed review of Clearview Treatment Programs. This anonymous reviewer awarded the program an overall rating of three stars, but also claimed that their loved one benefited from treatment in nearly every way, from self-awareness to an improved confidence.

David, another Yelp reviewer, felt “compelled to” leave a review after his 18-year-old daughter had an “outstanding” experience here. “The Clearview staff was compassionate and made her feel empowered about how to take control of her life and not let BDP and depression define who she is,” David commented.

In contrast, another father named James shared his family’s disappointment in the center: “The bottom line: we were sold a bill of goods to get the ten grand monthly fee for a program that exists almost entirely for dealing with substance abuse, not other mental illnesses,” he told Yelp.

FINANCING

Clearview accepts most PPO plans – including Aetna, Blue Shield, United Behavioral Health, and Cigna – for its residential, day treatment, and IOP programs. Treatment costs vary based on program and prospective clients are encouraged to contact the center for more information.

Clearview Treatment Programs Reviews

I attended Clearview's dual diagnosis over the past four months. I have borderline personality disorder and addiction. My experience at Clearview was positive, the therapists are intelligent, skillful and understanding. The staff was absolutely amazing they made me feel welcome, comfortable and valued. Many things I haven't felt in years. Overall a life changing experience. My one and only issue I had while at Clearview was the clinical director. My interactions with her were negative enough that if I had known about her going into Clearview I would have chosen to go somewhere else. She is NOT someone who would be working with people that struggle with mental health issues, period. I was constantly belittled, disrespected and invalidated. I never felt safe and I never felt like she wanted to benefit the clients. I also noticed her negative influence in the staff, which made them tense and afraid of every move they made in fear of being fired. which ultimately affected the clients. I had expressed my feelings towards her and was met with a cold response. Like I said I had a great experience at Clearview and will forever be grateful, but it could have been exponentially better if that woman was not the clinical director.
