ABOUT LA CASA UJIMA RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT PROGRAM
La Casa Ujima Residential Treatment Program (RTP) provides evidence-based support for women who are pregnant or parenting young children and struggling with chemical dependency. The facility is one of the only 397 (27.8 percent) programs in the state with this specialized focus.
Since 1986, the nonprofit facility has served Contra Costa County residents, regardless of their ability to pay for treatment. The county, which operates several substance use disorder treatment programs, contracts with La Casa RTP. TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to a 2016 California state licensing document, La Casa Ujima RTP includes two neighboring residences with a total of 15 beds for clients, plus space for on-site staff. This suggests a high level of individualized care, given that the average number of clients in a residential substance abuse program was 18 individuals as of 2016.
The one individual polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing revealed general satisfaction with accommodations. She rated the facility’s cleanliness and upkeep four stars out of five, and gave three stars for policies regarding telephone and internet use and opportunities for exercise and leisure activity.

The sole Best-rehabs.com reviewer to date identified the facility’s counselors as a strength, writing that they helped her “understand addiction triggers” and “helped get (her) child back.” She gave the overall effectiveness of treatment four stars, as well as four stars for the program’s ability to treat co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders, the availability of counseling options, the centers admissions and discharge procedures, and opportunities for family involvement in the treatment process.
However, holistic therapy options received a lower rating of two stars, though the former client indicated that treatment was worth the cost and that she would recommend this facility to others.
