Bayside Marin

Bayside Marin

We acknowledge that in the treatment of addiction and co-occurring disorders, we are not simply treating a diagnosis, but rather individuals with unique needs, backgrounds, and belief systems. Each client at Bayside Marin works closely with their treatment team to design a personalized recovery program that is tailored to their lifestyle and supports long-term recovery.

Our goal is for clients to develop a sober support system that aligns with their philosophy and structure. While we recognize the effectiveness of 12-Step rehab programs like Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, we do not incorporate the 12 Steps into our treatment. We hold onsite 12-Step meetings each week, but we also provide access to literature and accompany clients to other meetings such as LifeRing and SMART Recovery.

ABOUT BAYSIDE MARIN

Situated on a hilltop overlooking the San Francisco Bay, Bayside Marin is a high-end drug and alcohol rehab facility that offers residential care, an intensive outpatient program (IOP), and aftercare for adult men and women who struggle with chemical dependency and dual diagnosis. Bayside Marin is among the 14 percent of residential facilities in California that provide medical detox. Notably, our center takes a non-12-step approach.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

The average length of stay in our residential program is 30 days.

After undergoing an initial psychosocial, addiction, and behavioral assessment, clients progress through our proprietary five-phase treatment program: Incentive, Awareness, Support, Vigilance, and Preparation. Each phase incorporates widely recognized concepts in addiction recovery. For example, Phase 2 (Awareness) focuses on cognitive distortions and irrational thinking, while Phase 4 (Vigilance) emphasizes relapse prevention techniques and coping skills.

Therapy is conducted in individual, group, and family settings. In addition to family therapy sessions, we offer a designated family weekend. Our treatment approach combines evidence-based modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI) with complementary practices like yoga, Qigong, and acupuncture. Although our program is an alternative to the 12-Steps, we encourage clients to attend self-help meetings, including 12-step meetings, as well as LifeRing and SMART Recovery. For clients with a dual diagnosis, we provide medication evaluation and monitoring services, as well as additional individual therapy.

Bayside Marin is among the approximately 25 percent of California rehabs that offer specialized services for LGBTQ+ clients. We also provide dedicated services for first responders.

Our outpatient options include an evening intensive outpatient program (IOP) that lasts up to 10 weeks. Graduates of any program receive an individualized aftercare plan and benefit from 12 months of ongoing support, which includes weekly alumni groups and follow-up calls.

  • It was supposed to be upscale, and the facilities were nice. However the Dr.'s and staff really didn't seem to have a good handle on what they were doing. They emphasized a one size fits all treatment philosophy which really does not work. Close to home. Good food. Nice scenery. Staff was fairly clueless . Very unprofessional.

  • It's been a long time since I was at Bayside... 9 years, in fact. I can describe what it was like at that time. First, it's a beautiful place. I think that it was bought the property from the author of Chicken Soup for the Soul. The view is fantastic. The flora is fantastic. There was a pool at the time, a sweat lodge and a hot tub. The beds were amazing... goose down comforters, pillows. The chef was from Mondavi... and the food was like... 10 star. You couldn't get better rehab food. Bayside offered acupuncture, reiki, yoga, tai chi, chi gong and massage. The morning and evening meetings were wonderful... focusing on thoughts, feelings and actions. The staff was talented. The doctor and nutritionist were on the mark. There were a variety of exercises that Bayside put us through over the month, and they were all great. We went to outside 12-step meetings regularly, as well as other recovery groups. My only reservation was the lack of 12-step focus. When you get out of rehab, that's really the only game in town... not these other organizations. If you're not trained into getting to meetings regularly, getting a homegroup and sponsor, reading the literature... I don't like your chances. Bayside didn't nudge you in any particular direction, and some of the patients walked out thinking that exercise, eating right and outpatient were going to keep them sober. Sobriety is a deep lifetime commitment that takes work. Bayside does a FANTASTIC job peeling back the onion. For those who come in already committed to getting out and doing recovery, it is an unbelievable opportunity to get clean, to get a clear head, to learn about themselves, and to feel good about life again.

  • This facility does not only have one method for success, it looks at each person individually. Baside Marin is a gorgeous facility that taught my neice how to overcome her situation. She learned that recovery is an inside job and how to become clean and stay that way. Her visit to this facility was a few years ago and is doing great.

  • At the time of service (2011), very effective dual-diagnosis program. Beautiful, very private location and feels like at a retreat/home, not medical facility. Small number of patients. On-site chef providing healthy, gourmet meals. Program incorporates the 12-Steps, groups, individual counseling, exercise & massage, AA/NA meetings and other treatment offerings as works best for patient. Many opportunities for family participation in program including "Family Weekends". Inpatient and Outpatient also work together in treatment groups. Counseling and overall staff who genuinely care for the well-being of hurting people and want to see them (and their families) well. However, at the time (2011), choice for faith-based counselors was not available.

  • Bayside is excellent for someone who has both addiction and psychiatric issues, such as depression or bipolar. They did a great job of sorting things out for me, putting me on the right medication and following up with me regularly after leaving the facility. There is a 30 minute consult with a psychiatrist per week.
