ABOUT MCALISTER INSTITUTE – NORTH COASTAL REGIONAL RECOVERY CENTER

McAlister Institute, one of California’s largest addiction treatment providers, operates 25 facilities in Napa and San Diego Counties. The North Coastal Regional Recovery Center (NCRRC) in Oceanside provides outpatient-based programs and services for adults facing substance use and co-occurring disorders. In addition, McAlister Institute offers gender-specific outpatient care at South Bay Women’s Recovery Center in National City and adolescent care at North Central Teen Recovery Center in San Diego.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

According to McAlister Institute’s website, the North Coastal Regional Recovery Center offers a wraparound treatment program that addresses clients’ specific needs. Clients undergo an initial assessment to help clinicians develop an individualized treatment plan and identify co-occurring mental health conditions that may contribute to addictive behaviors.

The core programming at NCRRC consists of individual and group counseling sessions. The center’s trauma-informed, evidence-based approach focuses on addressing past experiences that may contribute to irrational thinking patterns and destructive behaviors. The counseling sessions aim to promote self-awareness and help clients identify and change these patterns and behaviors.

In addition to counseling, the outpatient program emphasizes relapse prevention, life skills development, and education to assist clients in maintaining sobriety. After completing the primary treatment plan, aftercare services are available, including ongoing recovery support, vocational training, and connections to community resources.

  • My son was recently at this place. Unfortunately I have very little positive to say about this "rehab". There are some lower level staff there that really care and try their best, and to them I am grateful. The manager is a terribly ignorant and rude individual who should not be in the position of working with children, in any capacity. I have nothing positive to say about her... This is basically just a state funded dry out/detox hole for kids coming out of juvenille hall. There is very little treatment, program and no family involvement whatesoever, unless you consider visiting your child "family involvement". (And god forbid you work on those visiting days or hours because God knows "no acceptions will be made" as per the manager's instruction) The facility is a small 3 bedroom house in Ramona with a kitchen and living room. The office is just a patio addition, so it is not a true facility, in the sense that you may think. There is a lot of sitting around, so make sure your child brings books and school work. They did go and feed the homeless, speak with inmates and attend NA meetings, but those were the highlights. Bottom line, the manager, as dreadful as she is, and this place are very unlikely to help your kid with anything other than 30 day dry out. Again, some staff are great and I would highly recommend they leave and go work somewhere else. Find a real rehab, if that's what your child needs. You definitely dont want to send your child here.

  • They specialize in skill-building and team based approaches to recovery. They do a particularly poor job of monitoring the needs of patients in coed housing.

  • You learn about health & mental thing that your brain goes through when on drugs. Sometime they are under staff & not enough counselor able to teach the sessions. Well I now have a better insight of what drugs can do to your brain & body.
