At the Residential level of care, clients live on-site with 24-hour support and supervision. With 6 clients per home, Evolve is able to instill strength in our teens through physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
Evolve’s treatment focuses on adolescent Substance Abuse, Mental Health, PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Asperger’s, ODD, ADHD and OCD. Through DBT, we teach the skills to regulate emotions and improve impulse control.
Our evidence based treatment includes dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), applied behavioral analysis (ABA), 12-step support and family therapy. Clients receive regular individual sessions with their licensed primary therapist, psychiatric evaluations and psychological testing, if needed.
We maintain a setting that provides a sense of security, while simultaneously providing a nurturing environment that includes comfortable living quarters, school area, fully equipped gym, swimming pool, chef, ample grounds, basketball, tennis and/or volleyball courts, ping-pong and more.
Our staff provides the highest caliber of care in the most compassionate and humanistic way. The clinical staff is comprised of a psychiatrist, nurses, and licensed therapists. Our counseling staff is comprised of experienced counselors and certified recovery coaches, all of whom bring a diverse and eclectic background to the treatment experience.
For our potential clients, we want you to learn that you will have fun in recovery! We do this by offering experiential therapies including art, equine, music and surf. You will engage in personal exploration through culinary arts, boxing, gardening, hiking, meditation, physical fitness, sports and much, much more.
ABOUT EVOLVE TREATMENT CENTERS TOPANGA
Located in Topanga, Calif., Evolve Treatment Centers offers residential and detox services to teens 12 to 17 years old who are struggling with substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, or mental health disorders.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
According to the facility’s website, there are three important elements to detox — evaluation, stabilization, and preparation. The evaluation stage includes testing for drugs along with psychological and physical disorders.
During the stabilization phase, the treatment team ensures the mental and physical health of the individual during withdrawal period. And, preparation is designed to stress the importance of pursuing a treatment program after detox.
During admissions, the treatment team conducts an assessment on each client. The assessment is used to create an individualized recovery plan. Plans usually include individual and group therapy.
Evolve Treatment Centers utilizes a multiple different therapies such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Mindfulness-Based Dialectical/Cognitive Therapy (MBD/CT).
The facility also teaches the 12-Steps, and offers family therapy and support groups for loved ones.
Teens also participate in innovative experiential therapies including equine-assisted therapy, social outings, surfing, music, art, dance, boxing, hiking, and physical fitness.
During treatment, teens continue schooling with the education staff at Evolve Treatment Centers. Before leaving treatment, the center’s staff creates an aftercare plan for each client.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
According to the facility’s website, the center looks and feels like a home, and there are never more than six teens at a time.
Accommodations include five acres of grounds and ponds, a full-size pool, TV room, school area with computers, on-site Equine Therapy program, on-site chef, modern horse corral and riding area, tennis and basketball court, and a gym.
WHAT ALUMNI SAY
The one alum polled by Best-rehabs.com at the time of this writing provided a mixed review. They gave two out of five stars for treatment effectiveness and accommodations and amenities.
While the alum praised the center’s staff, they had a problem with programming. “Most staff were kind,” they wrote.. “They hardly had any groups about depression and anxiety, and no groups about eating disorders.”
The alum also complained about having no privacy, and noted they wouldn’t recommend the facility.
