Monarch Recovery of Santa Barbara

Monarch Recovery of Santa Barbara Santa Barbara California

Our goal as a sober living facility is to provide a safe, sober and responsible environment in an effort to assist the transition of the alcoholic/addict into a healthy and productive lifestyle.

ABOUT MONARCH RECOVERY OF SANTA BARBARA

In pretty clapboard houses in the center of the picturesque seaside town of Santa Barbara, southern California, Monarch Recovery offers two sober-living homes: one for men and one for women. Monarch does not offer detox services, but can provide referrals to local detox centers.

If Monarch turns out to be a bad fit for any client, the organization pledges to help that client connect with other sober-living facilities in the area.

TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT

A stay at Monarch is intended to treat the mental, physical, and spiritual elements of addiction and recovery. In particular, the founders — who themselves are in long-term recovery — offer a philosophy that blends the tenets of the 12-Steps with Eastern spirituality, including yoga and meditation.

Clients are required to attend 12-step meetings and house meetings. They also have access to individual and group therapy, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT).

The recovery homes are designed as calm spaces, without distractions, in which clients can ease their transition back into daily life with ease and dignity. Developing healthy pursuits is a key part of the transition back into normal life, and as such the center offers extensive outdoors activities and links to local cultural activities.

STAFF CREDENTIALS

The staff-to-client ratio is 1:3, and the house manager, who is on-site 24 hours a day, has more than 20 years of sobriety. Staff can provide referrals to physicians, psychologists, and counselors as required.

ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES

The facilities are located on residential streets, in the quiet city of Santa Barbara. Monarch offers nine beds in total, in rooms shared by two clients each in stylishly decorated family-style surroundings. There’s a library with recovery-related reading materials on-site, as well as a meditation room, an exercise space, laundry facilities, and computers connected with Internet access. The center is close to a surfing beach, as well as hiking and biking routes, yoga studios, theaters, and a farmer’s market. Monarch can also provide referrals to massage therapists, nutritionists, physical trainers, and recovery assistants, whenever desirable.

A hot dinner is served each evening. The kitchen is kept stocked with nutritious food, and residents are responsible for preparing their own breakfast and lunch.

Smoking is not permitted on-site.

WHAT STAFF SAY

The single review submitted to Best-rehabs.com to date came from Monarch employee Heather, who gave the center five stars for the effectiveness of its treatment as well as for the quality of its accommodations and food. “We have 2 beautiful homes, one for men and one for women. I absolutely love this job, and I love being a part of the residents recovery on a daily basis… residents are given a great opportunity to live and love a sober life,” she wrote.

FINANCING

Treatment costs $3,000 per month, and the center does not accept insurance, but it does offer financial assistance covering less than 60 percent of the total cost of treatment.
