ABOUT RESTORE DETOX CENTERS
Located outside of San Diego, southern California, Restore Detox Centers bills itself as a luxury detox center, providing non-medical detox from alcohol and other drugs, for adults only. Once they’ve completed detox, clients may graduate to a residential stabilization program that provides an optional short-term stay after detox.
TREATMENT & ASSESSMENT
Treatment begins with a thorough evaluation that includes blood tests, screening for co-occurring disorders, and assessments of the client’s social, psychological, and medical needs and risks.
Though Restore is a non-medical center, it’s qualified to provide Incidental Medical Services (IMS), a designation introduced in the State of California that allows facilities to provide, in the words of Restore Detox Centers, “oral and intravenous medications as well as alternative non-narcotic treatment methods for withdrawal symptoms.” In short, this status enables the center to provide some relief for the physical pain of detox, though less than an acute-care detox facility.
Primary among Restore’s temporary pain-relieving methods is a device called The BRIDGE, which is worn on the ear and which stimulates neural signals for four to five days. The facility also provides certain medications, and ensures that detoxing individuals get appropriate nutrition and a rounded diet, with a particular focus on vitamins. Drug-free withdrawal options are available for those clients who desire them.
Clients are told what to expect during and after treatment — a process that their families are involved in, whenever appropriate.
Once they’ve detoxed from their substances, clients are encouraged stay on for a two-week residential stabilization program to deal with any lingering withdrawal symptoms. During this stage of treatment, Restore offers individual and family therapy, including evidence-based modalities such as eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). In a bit to provide a rounded program, Restore also offers yoga sessions, mindfulness, and music, pet, and art therapy sessions. Relapse-prevention training and case management services are provided, with a view to helping clients to remain sober after treatment, and residents may also attend non-compulsory off-site recovery meetings including 12-step and SMART Recovery sessions.
All clients are encouraged to graduate to longer-term residential treatment at other facilities.
STAFF CREDENTIALS
Restore employs a medical doctor who’s board-certified in addiction, forensic psychiatry, and pain medication; the doctor appears to hold numerous posts, so is likely not on-site full-time. Also on staff are a clinical psychologist, a licensed marriage and family therapist, certified addiction counselors, and a yoga and exercise teacher.
ACCOMMODATIONS & AMENITIES
Restore bills itself as a luxury facility, and in-keeping with this designation, residents can enjoy a heated pool and a jacuzzi, set on the secluded four-acre campus. The facility is a modern Californian ranch-style residence, with shared bedrooms (each of which has a private bathroom), a full kitchen, an outdoor patio, and a common area with a fireplace and a flat-screen TV. Extra services include transportation to and from the treatment facility and any required medical care, and meals prepared by an on-site chef.
